Hi, I am a vert noob just switched over from a S14 (sig pic) and got a problem with my top. Not sure if anyone has had this problem but when I hit either the top down or up button the top goes down. Neither work to make it go up though. Any thoughts?

check your convertible motor in the trunk for fluid and make sure the switch is in the right position.

if empty fill it with hydraulic fluid. its like 3-4 bucks maybe cheaper at autozone and what not. check the lines for leaks.

dowload the vert fsm, its your best friend.!

LOL no problem man.Funny part is that it wont go up if you try to make it go up by lifting it until you hit the up button for a sec then you can man handle it up. But it goes down by hitting the button. (already stated that but its ok)

The pump its self could be going bad. Does it make any noise like its trying when you push the up button? Also when you push the up button and someone helps to raise it does the motor make any noise then. Make sure to hold the button down(up button) while he/she raises the top.

Well I ripped out the rear seats and side panels to get rid of the alarm that was installed incorrectly and the riced out neon under the dash. Will check the pump and everything after I locate where to buy the pump oil since its low. Anyone know where I can get some?

IIRC, it's just plain AT fluid. Anyone?

For future reference, there is a little switch on the motor in the trunk that you have to flip in order to put the top up or down manually. It's rather easy to pull it up after you turn the switch. Just make sure you turn it again afterwards.

Just in case ya didn't know. There should be a diagram in the vert supplement if you got one with your owner's manual.

Haha glad to help. When I was picking apart my wreck I had to move the top several times....such a PITA without turning the valve. After you do, the thing practically moves on it's own!

I used Dexron VI and it works. Goes up and down smoothly after a little bleeding. Its the same fluid that RV's use on the hydraulic systems.
