I've heard alot of things about having to install an rb from the bottom of the car. I have an rb25 that is going in next weekend and im curious, can it go in from the top? is it much more difficult? If its easier to go from the bottom, when did everyone use to hold there cars up? I tried to seard but the engine is down for some reason. Any info would be appreciated

either way, top or bottom is possible... depending on your preference and resources will depend on which route you take... I installed my motor from the bottom.. had the car up on jackstands.

WHat sources would i need to install it from the top, the people that are helping me and the limited space i have to work with would just make it easier that way, i have an engine hoist but what else would be needed. Am i gonna need to prop the front of the car up anyway and bring it in on an angle?

Gonna need to get the body PRETTY HIGH in the air to get the proper angle on the engine/trans combo...high enough that you might as well go from the bottom.

Going from the top is easy if you seperate the engine/trans and reassemble once the motor is in place.

For holding the car up there is a new invention called a "jack stand" not too many people have heard of them, but you can get them in varying heights depending on your needs.

Do not do an RB20 seperate from the transmission (atleast without the expensive mounts) is all I have to say. I'm not the only person to have to change a clutch and disconnecting and then reattaching the transmission while the engine is still in is a b****.I did it from the top, took maybe half hour with 2 other guys who had enevr done an engine swap before. That's from engine in the air to everything bolted in. Oh, and make as sure as possible that the engine is level side-to-side -- really helps.

in all honesty... it's basically just a bunch of adjusting... then readjusting... and a hella lot of push and pull
