top mount vs regular tubo manifold?

im gonna switch to a aftermarket turbo manifold on the SR and want to know if a top mount manifold is any better then the traditional turbo manifold?i hear the top mount might spool up faster and increase tq#s thanks guys

gonna use the s15 duel bb turbo or the gt28r by garrett

S15 are almost always run as a bottom mount. Switching that to top mount would be more of a hassle than its worth, plus I dont think the center section on s15 turbo's are able to be rotated, so the oil drain would be pointing straight up.

The advantage of a top mount turbo system is the ability to run larger than T2 exhaust housings.

so theres no need to switch unless i go with like a gt30 or gt35 right?

If you've got "low" hp goals (say, under 375), stay bottom mount.

would a gt2817r be alright with a top mount? i may be aiming for the 350-400hp range

i picked up an xs power topmount for really cheap, so it won't hurt if i should get a nice bottom mount instead

You can get a T3 GT2871r. Actually, it's the best one to get. Most people that go topmount though do it b/c they want something bigger. If you do order a GT2871r FOR TOP MOUNT make sure you get the GT series 4 bolt exhaust housing...atpturbo.com sells it... .63 a/r.
