I want to upgrade my t25 with a S15 T28 to go along with my FMIC but was contemplating on doing a Top mount. Some questions come into play with that decision that I'd like some input on.

1. Is an aftermarket manifold a good idea with "real" power gains associated with it? Or does the cost outweigh the benefits in purchasing anew turbo manifold (i.e. DC sports or Silkroad)

2. Having a (not yet installed) Trust-RSPL FMIC, how much extra will piping or any other xtra parts cost to perform a top mounted turbo setup.

1. Yes, you can experience real power gains.. however, top mount is not necessary to run an s15 turbo. there are bottom mount tubular manifolds that retain the stock location of the tubo that will be just as effective. Most top mounts are flanged for a t3 turbine, not a t25.

2. most fmic kits do not include the hot-pipe, including the RSPL kit. YOu will have to change your hotpipe a little to get it to work. worse case scenario is fabricating a new hotpipe and new intake pipe.

If you do it yourself, materials could cost about $50 + whatever a t3 turbine outlet flange costs. You'll need oil lines as well, and possibly other couplers. If the turbo isn't internally gated an external wastegate is required. With external gates you'll want to decide if you want your car to sound like a carbage disposal with a peach pit in it. If the answer is no, the wastegate outlet will have to be plumbed back into the downpipe.

Figure the cost of manifold+cost of turbo+wastegate if not within turbo+oil lines+$50 in pipes+$100 for couplers and reducers, clamps, flange, etc.
