I'm sorry about how simplistic/noobish/etc. this question might be. I was looking at the full-race top-mount manifolds and I can't figure out how everything works. A picture for reference is at http://www.full-race.com/image....html and it's picture 026.jpg. Anyway, so you got the manifold and the turbo mounts off top and then there's the extension thing coming off the side, etc. So can someone just give a quick rundown of how everything flows when this manifold and turbo is in action? Like I said, sorry if this is dumb but I can't picture it. Only trying to learn. Thanks.

That is a very nice looking peice... Looks equal length to me as well :p

Manifolds/headers all work the same: they just direct exhaust pulses/flow/heat to the turbine housing/wheel on the turbo. It works NO different than the stock manifold. I am sure the runners are a little smoother and maybe even a tad larger, some come into 4-1 in teh collector, some dont....

If you are talking about the wastegate as the "extension thing" than you will have to read up on wastegates. Quick terms, that is what controls your boost by expelling a certain amount of exhaust to maintain a certain boost level/speed of the turbo. Its got its own runner from teh collector which is pretty cool when compared to taking it off of one of the 4 runners to the turbine.

I understand that the extension is for the wastegate and that the wastegate controls turbo speed. My question involves connecting both the turbo and the wastegate to the exhaust system. You have the turbo mounted there on top of the mainfold and then the wastegate off on that extension. My question is that since both of those components (turbo, external wastegate) feed exhaust, how do you connect both the wastegate exhaust outlet and the turbo exhaust outlet to the exhaust system? Thanks a lot.

Custom stuff man... I am sure there might be someone who makes a DP for a top mount like that. But you will most likely need custom peices.

--are you planning on routing the wastegate back into the DP?--

If you are then thats definetly a custom job as most people will just make a nic elong dumptube to the ground. Some use resonators to quiet them...

That is part of what makes the enjuku T3/04 kit so attractive. It includes the downpipe extension and dump tube, along with the Hotshot manifold and some other stuff.

Personally I think the fullrace mani looks damn good. I would buy it over the Hotshot, but they you are back to custom making stuff.

Learn to weld, it will be a gift for life.

full-race also makes downpipes, application specific, made to order.

Just to make sure I get what you guys are saying, on the average top mount turbo set-up, the wastegate just vents to the atmosphere directly, right? I understand the T3/T04 turbo upgrade to be relatively popular, is this how everyone that has that turbo upgrade has it set up? Is it difficult to route the wastegate extension back to the exhaust system? It seems like there would be some clearance issue with stuff. Thanks.

Yes that is what most people do, however if you are in CAlifornia or anywhere near as pciky as they are then you will FAIL in an instant.

All it takes to reroute it is to run longer pipe and weld it into the downpipe...
