The McKenny Mounts on my friends RB did the same thing. This is why I hate the price they charge for this **** since they cant take the time and actually use a bolt that is inside the mount not just pressed in.

I have done two swaps with those mounts so I can agree to the poor quality/fitment. I also have a rude email response from the owner of A$$Hat performance when I asked a simple question about these mounts.

lol.... mckinney has the same failure , you're fuked.... these are the bullet proof mounts metal+urethane i'm building for my rb30 mounts setup. notice how the top and bottom has metal support plates and the bolt goes through, not glued on like the mckinney's and tophat's.

i have the 2nd version mckinney mounts and they are poly urathane ones instead of rubber, my friend is using hockey puck for his rb with top hat mounts and he said that they are the same height as those ones and all you have to do is drill a hole through it and run a grade 8 bolt through it and it would be fine, you still might have to shim it but the hockey pucks are alot stronger then those ones.

You must have been unlucky or something, the two times i've experience tophat mounts they've worked perfectly. I've had mine for over a year and they're as stiff as they were day one.

Which is why I modified mine so that the stock R33 isolator would work.

Why doesn't anyone just make ultra burly solid motor mounts?

I saw some 240/260/280Z...don't remember which...that just used square tube stock to make his mounts and welded them to what looked like 1/4" steel plate.

Is there some special reason, other than vibrations for the motor, that noone uses solid mounts?

002-M-P,

Are you talking about Quoc's RB25 powered Z? Here is a link to a pic:

This is what I have started (waiting to get my bottom end back together so i can finish them and have the motor installed.)

lonestar...thats the one I'm talking about

I know people with other motors run solid mounts all the time, I don't know what you would break on your car as long as everything was made properly?

I'd go with syko performance, and no ****ty product. http://www.sykoperformance.com. They've got a lot of experience and everything ends up fitting so damn well, all you need is a stock RB25 cross member.

Can´t see the point with giving you crappy rubber mounts in an expensive kit? Most people swapping in RB´s are probably looking for performance and you don´t want this...

The cheapest and probably best option for many people is to use hockey puck´s, just drill a hole in the middle and adjust the height by adding more puck´s.The only bad thing here is that the center bolt and nut wont allow the mount to expand like normal mounts, only compress. No big deal and many race mounts are designed the same.I´ve used this for years and love it!

Btw, don´t know if puck is the right word, my English suck.

I think one of the mods made his own engine mounts like 6 months ago.

He used Dixie cups and some kind of Windsheild Polyurethane or something.Cost him about $30 and are supposed to be really strong.

I spoke to mike at top hat today and he said that they have not changed the design of the mount but that they are using a different supplier that is making them better..

I smell poo poo...

How the hell am I going to find a hockey puck In Miami? lamo

Do you guy think I should make solid ones or will I have no teeth?

One of my top hat mounts broke too on installation. The metal part didn't just pop off, it stayed on there, but the rubber ripped near the bottom. It took a little bit to get a replacment one back to me, as the guy I bought the kit from (a partner shop of tophat, used to sponsor here) went under and I had to go straight to Top Hat to get a new one.

But since I needed something quick, I took two hockey pucks and stacked them, drilled a hole down the center, and used a large bolt to secure it in place. I've had the replacment for some time, but I'm still rocking my hockey pucks on one side. It works very well, I catch **** for it from friends, but I don't care. I may switch the other side to hockey pucks too.

Hey!!!!I've found it.This is what you should do instead.

zer...age=1

I wouldn't mind hockey pucks, but I'm not gonna drive mine daily though.

I also e-mailed the guy from MMR direct to see if he knew if the KA/SR mounts would fit. Or if the mounts could be cut down or made shorter. They do look a bit taller than the Top Hat isolaters. But I can't really tell from the picture.

Do they have the "C" stamped into the steel? If not they're fake... im sure they're real but I've heard some bad stories about that.

Call Mike asap and let him know, he'll make it right. I just talked to him the other day down in conyers
