Hiya fellas!

Thought i would introduce myself, and tell you guys how much i HATE top hat mounts. not only can i not find their website, they fit like s***! it seems the motor needs to go back another half inch to full inch. the trans mount isnt lining up. so if anyone has any pics, that would be super. the top hat mounts were in antoher s14 already. they lined up fine. so i dont get it. ima jostle the motor around today, see if i can get it lined up better. there is a little tab welded on the subframe that the mount seems to be hitting.

background on the car- Just pulled the 2jz out of it. i thought i woudl go crazy, and swap something stupid in the car.. thats exactly what i did. the 2j was around 530whp on pump gas. it was TOO fast for the car. it would spin the small 255 tires through 3rd gear. going sideways down the freeway from a 3rd gear roll is SCARY!!!here is the car-

after i pulled that motor, i was set on parting the car out, and being done with nissans. then i found a good deal on an rb25. came out of a running s14 that hit a pole. the motor has a few nice upgrades. has a greddy intake manifold, and some mystery turbo kit. it looks to be a greddy kit, but i cant find info on it anywhere. anyone have any thoughts?here are a few pics of the turbo and motor-

anywho, thought i would come say hi, this site seems to have alot of good info on these swaps! i just hope to get this s*** figured out asap. miss driving my pile o s***

Lol yeah WTF? I mean I'm all for Nissan motors in Nissan cars but 2JZ's are beast. And they sound sooooo good! But w/e, RB's are equally sweet imo.

Wouldnt it have been cheaper just to get some wider tires?

What size turbo was on the 2JZ?

Im looking for 600BHP on mine but i want it to spool as qucik as possible.

Wider tires > RB25 swap.

I would've lightly considered an RB26 for a 2JZ, but never an RB25, thats why im getting rid of my 25 for a 26

Would have been cheaper to do wider tires or a smaller turbo on the 2j. Ill never understand people. I havnt seen a mount kit that wasnt a PITA yet for the RB25 and transmission.

again fellas, i didnt pull the motor thinking the rb woudl make more power. i pulled the 2j to part it, because i was selling the carthe chassis hasnt sold, so i found a cheap RB. i may end up putting the rb in the car and selling it at that point. the 2j just made the car too spendy for anyone to buy cash. we will see thoughi think 2j>rb25 as well, but i didnt plan for it to go this way, it just kinda did

Oh I gotcha now, yeah that makes sense, it will still be fun with an RB, let me know how much you hate your trans crossmember that came with the Top hat setup, I am sure alot of cursing will ensue in the install of that.

You should have gotten zerolift mounts. They fit the rb25 perfectly in the bay.

Are you going to be road racing with a 26? I'll trade you mine for an LS6. ^_- I kid, I kid.

You may consider a lighter motor than the rb26. Mine is rather heavy up front...

finally got the motor and trans lined up and bolted in. definately alot more difficult than it should have been!

started putting everything else together. made a list of stuff to finish-

put 2 driveline bolts inintake pipe. (what do you guys use for intake pipes?)radiator fan zip ties90 Deg 3" pipe for intercoolerZ32 fuel filtertrans fluid (what do you guys use, and what amount? i was gonna do MT90)Throttle cable- the motor has a greddy intake manifold, what throttle cable bracket, or adapter do you guys use?clutch line (removed it to do the 2j swap, threw it away)missing 1 relay by the ecu. the wiring harness had 2 spots for relays, so 1 is missingmy dipstick is broken. need a new one.. anyone have one?exhuast. what downpipe do you guys use? the swap came with one, but its only 2.75". always had 3" on my cars, cept the 4" on the 2j. wanted to keep the 3" idea.

The Zerolift/Ruckus racing mounts are almost identical to top hats

^Wow, what an astute post there, RonaldMcDonald.

That looks like an old GReddy 20G kit to me. Good stuff. 500hp capable or so turned up.

I have no complaints with the tophats. I got them from jgy. I actually busted an isolator and called jgy and they sent me one for free next day! Now that my motor is toast, I might go 26 with mckinney tho.

That is an old TD05-H 20g with a T3 flange.

I don't like "CFM", I like "Lbs/min" better but this should help.

DSM's went high 10's and made 500AWHP with this turbo in the "Old days" (Late 90's)
