I've searched the forums, but have found no answer to my question. Is it alright to remove only the top guide and have the guide on the side removed later since I dont' have the tools to get to the side guide? I was thinking about doing this, but was unsure if it would be stable.

On the KA24DE? You can remove one guide first and then the other later, sure.

Just so we're clear, you can only remove the guide between the cam sprockets and the one on the driver side near the distributor on the *upper chain*. Both guides on the lower chain must be retained.
