Tanner Foust just announced on Facebook, just shortly after it was announced that he would be taking a temporary hiatus from Formula Drift, that Top Gear USA will be picked up for a second season. The hosts will remain the same as well, with Tanner Foust, Rutledge Wood, and Adam Ferrara.

I'm excited to hear that it's getting a second season, the first season wasn't overly exciting, nor was it Top Gear: UK but it was still entertaining to watch and I enjoyed almost every episode of it. The Americas Toughest Truck episode was probably my favorite of Season 1, with the final "Best Of" episode being my least favorite. I think a second season will continue to make the show better, just as long as the hosts continue to improve as well. Regardless, it's good TV so i'll watch it as long as they keep it going.

This makes me happy. If NICO was Facebook, I would "like" this thread.

Honestly, I think not. If you go back and watch the first couple of seasons of TG: UK, they weren't all that great either. You have to keep in mind TG: UK is in Season 16 right now, this was only the first season of TG: USA. Even if it's never as good as TG: UK, it's still a great show for the US. The History Channel said that TG: USA brought it the largest young viewer audience of any of their shows with it's first season.

Oh trust me, I still do agree that Top Gear UK is still far more entertaining. I've been dying waiting for Season 16 to show up on Zune Marketplace so I can watch it, Episode 1 just showed up last night. Once I started watching TG: UK, I was absolutely hooked, I watched Season 7-15 in just over a month and it is by far more entertaining. It's just nice to know that there will be something in between, while TG: UK is on break.

It is just an unfortunate name, because it makes you compare some upstart against the greatest autoshow with over a decade of momentum.

Meh, Top Gear's first season was still better then TG USA's... I actually thought it was good then too...

But, Top Gear USA isn't terrible... Like I said before, for me it is definitely worth the price.
Good to see it back for another season. There were a few good ones, and the rest weren't BAD. Can't wait to see what they can do with it next season.

Only let down is that they didn't axe Adam, and bring in Adam Carolla instead :chuckle:

It would be the perfect show with Adam Carolla, I would be a very happy person if they did that. He would probably give Rutledge hell, which would be very entertaining.

Honestly though, Adam has grown on me. Now i've actually started to dislike Rutledge more, although I still find him somewhat entertaining because he's such a wuss sometimes.

I think the remake of Knight Rider that came out a couple years ago set the bar too high for TG US. That show savagely sucks.

Watching 1 episode is a good test. Especially when its the first one ever made.

Thank god the UK version never made a bad episode.

I havent watched an episode of Top Gear UK that i didnt like , and the hosts of Top Gear USA are so boring they have nothing to contribute to make the show worth watching.

How much of the original top gear have you watched?

I am not going to go look through 40+ gigs of episodes, but If you give me $70 I'll find you an episode of Top Gear US that is better then an episode of the original.

Agreed, you can't tell me that out of 16 seasons that every show was absolutely amazing. Then saying that the US hosts are boring and have nothing to contribute? Obviously someone like Tanner Foust has nothing to contribute, with his background... Yeah none of them are Jeremy, James, and Richard but isn't that the point? Regardless, it must have something to contribute, considering that it got renewed for a second season only a couple of weeks after finishing up Season 1.

Look forward to it. I too was hoping that if any change they would replace Adam (don't find him too funny and has very limited car knowledge), but I can deal with him.

Seriously, this. I remember back when TGUK still had Fatty McGee as a presenter, and I remember being BORED while he reviewed the Nissan Skyline. First couple seasons of TGUK were no better than the first season of TGUS or AUS.

If they can do more specials like that adventure in Alaska, I'll be happy to see another season.

Even just 10 minutes of clarkson per show makes any other tedious content worth it. He's also a clever writer.

Back then, Top Gear was the only motoring program of its kind. Even enduring Jason Dawe's used car segments was worth it.

haha...good ol sarcasm.

yeah, TG UK blew a** for a few seasons.

it got better in series 2 with the James May coming aboard but took until around 7 before it started acting like the show it is today.

I actually really liked the segments with "that fat guy" and his car buying advice... even though it was all for cars not sold in the US, that were like 8 years old by the time I saw it.

Seven years ago I made a thread asking "Which one is your favorite?" with a poll and pictures of the three Top Gear hosts. You troglodytes (as May would say) had no idea what I was referring to and thought I was examining prospects for mating.

I'm officially super cool, except for the other stuff that makes me characteristically uncool.
