A Buick Roadmaster?

http://jalopnik.com/5802420/top-gear-us ... ster-wagon

I saw his Datsun for sale on Facebook last week and he announced that he would post pictures of the replacement soon. Apparently he wanted something for his growing family and he loved the Buick Roadmaster Wagon so much after using one in some challenges on Top Gear USA, that he decided to buy one. Pretty cool wagon I have to say, although i'd rather have something that's less of a land yacht personally

DO WANT

I'm starting to prefer these to the Fleetwood Brougham. They have nicer dashboards and the two-way hatch is clever.

I honestly wouldn't mind having one myself, considering the ridiculous amount of space it has in it, and it would be an awesome road trip car. The sad thing is, that probably has more room in it than the Commander, and probably gets better fuel mileage too :tisk:

I have a Sequoia and will keep the Sequoia even when I buy another DD for the wife because of the ridiculous amount of space. It is nice to have a vehicle that can tow a trailer, carry a sheet of plywood or haul 8 + 4 big suitcases on a road trip. We have put 80k mile on the Sequoia since buying new in September of 06 and it has always returned 15 mpg.

I with ya on that... I love the Commander, even though it only gets about 14mpg in the city, but it gets 19-20mpg on the highway, has tons of room and can haul whatever i've needed. For the small difference in gas mileage, compared to smaller SUVs, i'd rather have the extra room and sacrifice a couple of miles per gallon. I plan on sticking with the same combo we have now, 4dr sedan and a larger SUV, then whoever has the longest commute drives the car the most. The Jeep almost always goes on road trips though, unless it's a short trip.

My parents had a 96 Roadmaster woody with a tow package. It had the LT-1 v-8 IIRC. Had some serious gusto. We got into a bad wreck with it while vacationing down in Florida. Guy ran a red and rear ended us going 50MPH he had a jeep with brush gaurds. Buckled the entire car. The hatch was literally pushed all way up to the second row seating with maybe a foot to spare. Car started up and ran perfect throughout the remainder of the trip, including the 1,000 mile trip home.

The car went on and got fixed and still ran untill 195,000 miles until my dad gave ot charity, with it still running like a champ. That chassis with motor was the definition of bulletproof. I think it's a good choice if you can find a cherry one.

Obviously everything that is cool about this car is completely in spite of it's looks.

I'm a bit annoyed that old Buicks are better built than newer and more expensive Cadillacs.

Top Gear and Rutledge Wood should never be used together in a sentence, except this sentence

A woody Roadmaster appears in one of Toyota's terrible "stylish Highlander" ads as the "uncool" car that the other kids get picked up in. Then the douchey-haired twerp comes on and starts talking about how cool his mom's Highlander is. DAMN do I hate everything so much.

I would drive that Roadmaster any day over that crapmobile Highlander, screw Toyota and all of their bland and useless crap...

I know somebody that has a Highlander and from the day he bought it new, it has had a valvetrain rattle(sounds like bad lifters or rocker arms) that 2 years later, Toyota still tells him that it's nothing to worry about. That wouldn't fly with me, especially since it's a common issue with them, I would've taken that crap back if they refused to try to remedy it. I really despise newer Toyota vehicles a lot... :squint:

The Roadmaster is pretty much one of the coolest cars ever.

Those Toyota commercials make me angry.
