top feed vs. side feed fuel setup

Well I have searched and found some of the information that I am looking for, but still have some questions to ask. I am in this dillema where I already have a top-feed fuel rail from jgycustoms and still need to get a few things for it. For instance, injectors($260), fuel lines(cost ?), and probaly another fpr which seems like I also need for the new top-feed setup. By me getting all of this the price between the top-feed and side-feed setup is leaning in favor of the side-feed, because all I need is side feed injectors that are $560 bucks for all four and that is it. I was wondering is there any real benefit between going top-feed over side-feed?

even tho i was planning on buyin this fuel rail, cant you use rubber lines on it? and the stock fpr? benefit of using an aftermarket top feed rail would be that it can flow more fuel. which is very good at higher boost levels

the stock fuel rail won't max out though.its good for use with 850cc injectors, and who needs more than that?

^ I had no idea that the stock fuel rail was capable of that much flow. I've always assumed that if you went with bigger injectors you would need a fuel rail with more capacity.

I think a top-feed puts down a even flow...

Due to the fact that all the injectors have the same fuel pressure above them...

I think a side-feed would give more flow to the 1st injector in the string... and so forth... Is this not correct?

But here is something ellse to think about... Your going to spend $600 on injectors for side-feed...

Now you want more HP in a year or two... well there goes another $600+ for new bigger injectors.

JGY Customs makes a rail that will work with a stock fpr. I have the version for the aeromotive and while its cool and all, its a ***** to hook up and takes about 70 dollars worth of AN fittings/fuel pressure gauge in addition to the cost of the fpr. If I could do it over again, I'd have gone with the stock regulator. If you do this, I think its worth it to go top feed over side feed. Once you factor in the cost of fittings, braided stainless line, fpr, and gauge then it takes the advantage away from the cheaper injectors. The cheapest place to get 72# injectors I know of is http://www.racetronix.com just ignore the fact that it says 75#, they are identical to MSD 72's (I had one flow tested to find out).

nope, it isn't. there no performance advantage to switching to top feed injectors.

that's why i've always wondered why people won't just buy larger injectors than what they need.

the benefit is that 50# injectors are $65 a peice. they are topfeed. and i think it looks better imo then the stocker. Shaun
