Replace the fuel filter
Also grab a can of non-chlorinated brake cleaner and hose down the MAF's wire and clean out the throttle body.
Pull a few of the spark plugs to check their condition... replace as necessary. Feel free to post a pic or a desc. of what they look like for analysis.
Pull off the spark plug wires and make sure they are in good condition (no cuts, frays, burns, etc.)
Pull off the distributer cap and check to see if the rotor is still in good condition, it should just be metal, no white residue, no burnt look.
Check the distributer cap leads for excessive white residue... clean them off with a peice of sandpaper (don't get too carried away) or replace it if they are bad.
These are just some general items that cause poor top end peformance on the 240. Cheap to fix for the most part.
