I just put my SR back in my coupe and maybe I didn't hear it at first or I thought it was an exhaust rattle but I think it's getting worse. It sounds like the timing chain guide rattle that used to be a problem on the DOHC KA's. But I pulled the valve cover and checked it and down the timing cover to see if anything was loose and rattling around; nothing, everything seems tight and the head looks to be getting oil. I took the oill cap off while it was running to check, and as far as I can tell it seems fine. I hear it at 1800 to about 3200 RPM's, after that not so much. At idle I hear it below 1000 or 900 RPM's really. But it seems to pull fine, get into boost, and run great other than the noise. Again it sounds like something rattling around like an exhaust loose and "tinging", or like the top chain guide on a KA. If anyone has seen this or can tell me a better way to check I would appriciate it, thanks.

I guess I could shoot one. Don't know how to upload on here, but I guess I'll figure it out.

So, just curious - did this fix itself?

If not, I'd guess a frozen/dead (and obviously flat) lifter. That'll be fun to replace.
