So, while browsing the news on Yahoo! this morning, I came across this article, with Steve McQueen prominently displayed in the Mustang fastback from Bullitt.
The Best Movie Car Chases of All Time

Now, I admit that the chases from Ronin and Bullitt are great, with the first one listed not too bad. I think that the final chase in either of the Gone In 60 Seconds movies are pretty sweet as well. So, it got me thinking...

Which chases do you think should have been on that list?

Glad to see Ronin made the cut. That's the only one that came to mind, so I can't really contribute to the thread except to say: yes.

Yeah I watched these last night after you posted the thread, then immediately went to bed and had badass dreams.

I had never heard of "To live and to die in LA" and "The French Connection".

Gone in sixty seconds the original was pretty wild.

The Bourne Series had a couple nice ones.

Beginning of The Transporter was sweet.

I'm embarrassed to say that I hadn't seen Ronin until very recently when Christine suggested it to me.

It drags a bit but the payoff is worth the waiting. Great cars, great scenes, compelling story.

I only saw it because I'd run out of better options on Netflix last December. I watched it as I was packing for China. Worth it.

The best scenes involve De Niro and a cup of coffee though.

And I'd say the original Gone in Sixty Seconds should be on there. On the list, the movie I haven't seen is the Seven Ups. Which I think is about NYPD's epic stake out squad. They were always in the s***.

French Connection is just a solid movie through and through though.

I wouldn't include most newer scenes because of the use of computer effects or camera and editing wizardry now. The chases in the Bourne movies were about as good as robot gifts in the transformer movies. Made me seasick.

And if you haven't seen it, it's pretty new but watch Hit And Run. It's on Netflix.

It gave me a Lincoln boner.

And Kristen Bell boner...

Best way to create your own car-chase-movie style car-chase without actually having to drive like an a** on real streets:

Great selection of cars (could certainly be better, but still great). The handling is definitely very sloppy, which is great for hollywood car-chase fun. The "drift" cars are useless and frustrating, though...they simply have no traction AT ALL, so you can't go straight OR steer effectively and attempting to do anything specific becomes frustrating in a hurry. Fortunately, you can completely avoid them as they are only used in a very small number of optional side missions.

My only real complaint about the game is the audio: all the cars use the same generic exhaust notes. All V8s sound alike. All exotics sound alike. Etc. No difference from Ford to Chevy to Jaguar to McLaren V8s...they sound identical.

There is no doubt in my mind that the car chase scene in Bullitt is among the best ever filmed. I remember seeing some outtakes (or was it a documentary?) where they showed how one of the cars even hit the cameras that were strategically placed on the side of the road recording the chase.

Also, particularly since Steve McQueen did his own stunt driving in that movie. He also did his own motorcycle stunts in The Great Escape as I recall.
