I suspect the cars identified as good looking will tend to come from the cars that were popular when the poster first became interested in cars.

I had thought about the Muira, as that's one of my dream cars.I thought the Avanti great looking and was way ahead of its time in 1963, but now its very dated. I've noticed (wth afew exceptions) the age of the cars may have more to do with the age of the writer. Younger folks may not have heard of many of the older cars like these below.

I agree with the homely 1st generation MR2, but I thought the Bertone designed X1/9 was kinda stylish when they first came out. The styling looks very dated now, of course.

While I think there are many nice looking Japanese cars out there,my 240sx being one of them, there's probably just two Japanese cars that break into my all-time top 30 most beautiful cars ever made. The Toyota 2000GT for sure, and maybe the 1970 Datsun 240z.

Let's face it, the 70s and 80s were not kind years for cars, either in terms of performance or styling. Being of a performance, rather than artistic, bent undoubtedly my views are somewhat skewed because right now I'd take a WRX over an '83 Countach because of the Subaru's greater practicality and similar performance. I also tried not to put too many of the "flying doorhinge" supercar designs on my list, as they all look a lot alike and lack some of the character I'm looking for in my cars. My list was running long too.(However, anyone interested in donating a Ferrari/Lamborghini/Bugatti EB110/Jaguar XJ220/Vector M12/Lotus Esprit Turbo in an attempt to change my mind, feel free) To add to the REALLY old cars on the list, how 'bout the Delahaye Type 135, the 56-59 BMW 503&507 Bugatti's from the Type 50-Type 57SC, and where are the Alfa Romeo's? I realize that we don't really get many over this side o'the pond and that they will be overshadowed by Ferrari and Lamborghini, but Alfa, and to a lesser extent Fiat, has done a damn fine job of applying that great Italian industrial designing we all lust after.
