I caught this little blurb and thought I'd pass it around.

"In choosing the elite 10 Coolest New Cars under $18,000, the editors thoroughly examined each vehicle through the subjective magnifying glass of what is cool, with an emphasis on its styling, performance and fun-to-drive factor. Additionally more objective criteria such as safety, fuel economy, environmental impact, interior size and comfort were taken into account".

A Mazda 3 under $18, 000 is that high? It's a great car, but it needs some options.. like being Mazda 3 Sport.

I like this approach cause there are a lot of good cars being manufactured. It is interesting that the Toyota Yaris did not make the list.

the Suzuki Swift (not Subaru) has always been a best seller, specially the GT.

It's weight to power ratio is awesome and handling is a plus. It's is not as roomy as the TIIDA/VERSA but it feels sportier. Here at Panama it was not being imported since the early 90s until last year. We can still see 90s Swift on the street heavily tunned as it has many aftermarket performance upgrades.

Here in the states the Swift has a very negative connotation. It was sold as an uber econobox, but it was sold primarily under a GM nameplate. For those that don't shudder right away at the name Swift... I have two words.

Geo Metro.

That's what it was sold as here in the US. Cheapest car in the states for many years. Excellent gas mileage. Horrible reliability, and the car was made of thinner metal than any other car sold in the states up until that point, and for that matter, since then.
