I plan on taking the parts off my friends 89-90 240SX hatch sometimes this week. Question is will i need any special tools to remove any of the parts? And if so where can i get it/them from?

BTW: Is the KA24E and KA24DE bellhousing for the transmission the same?

air tools are your friend. a big hammer and crow bar make any job easier as well.

When you put the transmission in, have a rope.

Get someone (who is fairly strong) to lay on their back under the car with the transmission on them, and they bench press it up. Tie the rope around the back of the transmission, where the shifter goes in, and pull the rope through the shifter hole in the floor. Have someone sit inside the car and hold that rope. That way that person is holding half the weight, and the guy on the ground has the other half.

A third person there to line up the input shaft helps a lot too.

Because you need to rotate the transmission when installing it.

I have used the rope method myself. You can do it alone (not recommended). When removing, it helps a lot to remove the cat hanger.Remove the driveshaft, drain oil, remove transmission to engine bolts slide it back a little bit, rotate it until the starter hump points downward, slide out.

omg, you guys are some riggin mofo's! i guess it works so w/e. i dont see any use for a hammer like a previous post said. its all pretty standard tool. drive shaft is a 12pt socket. and you need snap ring pliers to get the shifter out
