92 Q45. I need a new antenna mast; the motor is fine. There is a nut on the fender mount that secures the mast that has two depressions at 180 from each other. What kind of tool is used to loosen the nut and where can I purchase one?

Thanks Ken K

use the tips of a set of needle nose pliars, opened enough to insert each tip inti the 2 recessed notches of the nut on fender.

I thought that top little chrome piece comes off..... I used a pair of channel locks with a rag over it to get the top nut off, and then the part that conforms to the body just pulls out.

You can buy the actual lock nut tool for about $8 at a Napa/ Murray's etc.Get the one that fits a Maxima.

If you do the needlenose technique, be sure to cut out some cardboardto go over the mast to protect your paint if the pliers slip.

Thanks.

I assume it is not difficult to replace the mast? Are there any aftermarket parts for this or do Ihave to purchase an Infiniti part? If aftermarket, where can I find one?

ThanksKen K

Yep, did that. The pliers slipped and scratched the paint. I was so mad. I'm trying to remove the nut on my Q - it has four prongs/slots. I may look into buying a new nut when I'm done because I have a feeling I'm going to butcher the thing.
