Well, I had tinted my tail lights black (I did it myself, I had a thread about it on here somewhere) and I tried touching up some of the clear coat on them last week. Well I ended up messing them up and after hours of painstaking recovery attempts, I decided to just get some new tails. Jons Tinted Tails had a set of R50 tails and I had him paint it to color match my paint code (KY0 - Chrome Silver) at a medium/dark tint level. I sent him my reflectors and had those tinted in the same paint at a dark tint level.slickroger wrote:nice pics those tails look amazing and how much did the bar on the front cost you i like those kind.
have you ever thought of painting the covers beside your fogs to match the paint you can tape it up so it has that grill look. this how mine used to look.
Do you think you can get a picture of your tails at night i would love to see how the light output is with the color match and what paint did you use?
I'm not sure how he paints the tails but it's supposed to last a really long time and it looks really good up close.Empty V wrote:Definitely looks different. Did dude just mist it on and then clear coat it? I think once you fix those scratches it'll look much better. I think to be able to pull that off it's gotta be super clean.
The roof basket looks great. How do you like the BullBar? I'm debating on either picking up a used one for super cheap or spending the extra $$ and getting the full grille guard.
BTW I did a 3" lift on mine, just added a 1" NX4 spacer and a 1" Mr Gasket spring spacer in the rear. I also don't have a front diff so that helps and it didn't add that much to the total cost of the lift.

Yeah I think I'm going to go for a bull bar and maybe try out those Hella 4000's with the Celis(halo) Ring which are ridiculously expensive and probably a total mistake but they look sick. I've seen a few R50's locally with full grile guards and tail light guards and they look good.Pwnin O’Brien wrote:

Yeah, I ordered a touch-up bottle of paint at Nissan and I'm gonna pick it up tomorrow and probably spend most of the day fixing the ridiculous amount of scratches on my rear bumper. I just need to figure out how to do the touch-ups and make them blend really well.
I like the bull bar a lot. I was seriously considering going with a full brush guard instead but I thought that the bull bar had a more sleek and simple appearance. Maybe in the future I might switch to a full brush guard, I dunno. I would like to see some more pictures of R50's with full brush guards as there's only one member with a full brush guard on NICO.
What lift do you have on your QX4? Also how much did you pay and where did you get it from? Did you have to replace any other parts (which would be affected by the new ride height) when you did the lift?
With my spare mounted on my roof I get an increased departure angle. However, that exhaust and rear bumper are still in the way. I want to get a new exhaust and tuck it up behind the rear bumper and I want a new steel rear bumper which is smaller and tougher. Last week I had my rear bumper cover pulled off and I really liked how much higher the departure angle was, but the car looked really stupid. I seriously considered leaving off the bumper cover, but it would look really dumb. The big problem is that nobody sells a decent steel rear bumper for the R50. Kennesaw Mountain Accessories sells one, but I'm not a huge fan of it.slickroger wrote:I dont understand the benefits of the tire on the roof wouldn't it just be harder to deal with the spare on the roof than under the vehicle, or are you caring multiple spares?
Yeah, a couple of months ago I decided to remove all of the chrome from my pathy. So I painted the front grille surround, front emblem and rear emblems all matched in a metallic graphite and then clear coat. I didn't think the chrome looked right on it.Qxxx4 wrote:looks reaaally good pwin nice work, i love the front end...the headlights and it looks like you painted the grille?
That was my motive for color matching the lights. Last week when I had my tail lights off to touch them up, I really liked how the car looked with them off. The area behind the tail lights is painted, and it made the car look really clean. I hate when a car has a bunch of random colors on it, the red stood out like a sore thumb. I wanted a more uniform look and a more clean appearance. I liked how the lights looked when they were tinted black, but the black also kinda stood out like a sore thumb and the light output was really really bad, even at night.Ubel Feuer wrote:Can't say I'm crazy for painted lights, but looks clean none the less. =)
I've always wanted to color match the door handles and side view mirrors. I was hoping maybe someone would try it and post a tutorial. I feel like it's a very difficult and time-consuming job having to remove the door handles on all five doors.slickroger wrote:now you need to color match your door handles like the qx4's have. i hate the rough look the pathfinder door handles have im going to paint mine soon or get black qx4 handles.
Yeah, the threaded holes are for the license plate bracket. The instructions say to re-locate the license plate bracket to the brush guard, but I just left mine on my bumper. I ordered mine from txnissanparts.com (Nissan of Grapevine, TX) since they were the absolute cheapest place to get the brush guard from. I'm not sure about the headlamp guard bolt spacing, I'll have to check on that when the weather gets a little nicer.Empty V wrote:Do you have threaded inserts on the bottom side of the middle crossbar on your brush guard? Mine looks identical but I don't have the headlight cages. Where did you order yours from? I would love a pair. The hole spacing on mine is approx 6", do you have any idea what yours is?

Thanks man. I actually got new tails, the body-matched ones were nice but the more I looked at them the more the back of the car looked bland. It was a little too much silver. I really like the new tails a lot and I think they look great, I'll have to take a pic when the monsoon outside ends.GRNMACHINE wrote:Pwnin,
Great Looking Path!! I liked the bullbar, the grill guard even better (of course I am a little partial since I have one also). I never thought to leave the license plate on the bumper, it looks ALOT better that way. Will look into that when it gets warmer. Nice work on the bumper touchup as well. The chrome badges changed to grey is perfect, you do anything special to get the paint to adhere? The tails are not for me, I would like them better if you only painted the red trim part. I do agree on the stock colors they used, there is nothing red on the vehicle. The pre 99.5's had black around the tails and looked a whole lot better.
KyooX4 wrote:I've never seen those before. Who makes them and where did you get them?
I got them from Ebay, only $60/pair (plus shipping)! I'm not sure who makes them, they're probably some Chinese knock-offs or something of the sort. Below is a link to the auction; the seller only sells two pairs at a time. You can also buy them from Amazon from the same seller but he lists them on Amazon for $93. Also, let me note that the perimeter of the tail lamp comes painted silver like in my pic above.slickroger wrote:How much did those cost you?Where did you get them?
Looks great, not saying the lights before were bad but these are much better!
Dude those look awesome! So what are you doing with the 2nd set? I'd love to drop them into the Q.Pwnin O’Brien wrote:
