Hey guys well I got bored last night so I went out and took off the running boards. Its not that I didnt like them, I had read on another post that it makes the truck look higher. Im not sure if I am going to keep them off permantly yet. I have also been tossing around the idea of getting tinted tailights. I used paint program on the computer awhile ago to try and get an idea of what they would look like. Let me know what you think.

Heres my rendering of the tails, they were done with paint so there not the best but you get the idea. Should I do it or not?

I gotta be honest, with your roof rack and bull bar the truck looks better to me with the running boards on. If you were to do like a 2" lift, I think it would look better without. But that's just me :) That first pic is sweet, very nice looking ride.
I do like the look of your tinted tails though. If you could make them come out the same % as your rendering, they'd look great IMO.

Hahaha, I say leave them off and don't tint the tails. But I'd also rather see black powder-coated tail light guards opposed to the chrome.

I like the look without the running boards, they tend to make the Pathfinder look very bottom-heavy and frumpy.

Ditto. Although it kind of looks odd with the bull bar hanging low in the front without the running boards around the same height to even things out visually.
But personally, I like the running boards off.

i like R50's without the running boards,

BUT

ive never been a fan of the tinted tails, call me old school but tail lights are supposed to be red.

Why anyone would take a rattle can to their lights, to diminish output and "look cool" (while getting pulled over or rear ended), is beyond me!

Are my eyes deceiving me, or are your rims different in the first 2 pics versus the last ones? Maybe it's just the lighting.
As for the tails, I'm with Fueler.
The running boards I'm not sure about yet. I've left mine on and find them useful, especially when I'm tying down stuff on the roof.

Another opinion.... I cant say exactly why but I really like the running boards on your truck. Normally I would say take them off. Re: Tinted tails-dont like them at all. I plan on tinting the red trim part that frames the tail lights, they should have painted it black like the trim around the headlights. I like the look of the tails all tinted but I have to agree with fueler-makes no sense to me either.

And Buzz is right, you have diff wheels/tire combo in the 2 pics. 20's for summer? I like those offroad tires in the last 2 pics. What size are they? They look big in the pics. Kuhmo's?

Great looking Path by the way!

Thanks for all the input and compliments guys. I think the running boards are probaly gonna go back on. I was thinking the same thing when I took them off that with the bull bar and roof rack it just looks better. I am still tossed with the tails though. I had tinted tails on my last truck and had no problem with the cops or anything, so I'm not worried about that. If I did do them they wouldn't be rattle can, I would get them done professioanlly. Maybe I will try something like grnmachine, but instead of black do silver like the truck.

And yes as far as the rims they are diffrent in the pics. I have 18's with terra grapplers for summer and the stocks have Kuhmo M/T's they are 245/75/16.

Maybe instead of messing with the tails what do you think of doing a billet grill and billet grill for the bumper?

I have a set of tinted tails that are paint-matched to your color code. If you're interested shoot me a PM...

Thanks for the offer Pwnin, but I was thinking only silver around the edge if I dont tint them black.

that first picture is amazing!!! i think stay with the boards, I had mine off for the winter, but i have a qx4 so it looks weird without them. But even the pathys I think you get a better look WITH them, it looks like a base model pathy without it. I love your pathy nice wheel/tire combo
