I figured last night would be a good chance to hit the track on a Wednesday test and tune night and since it wasn't real cold. I wanted to see what the car was capable of before I threw an intake and tune on it, possibly an exhaust. Was hoping the track was prepped decently as my tires are almost worn out.

With bad tires I still managed a decent time:

60 FT ....... 2.2846
330 FT ..... 6.0654
1/8 ET ...... 9.1742
1/8 MPH .. 78.55
1000 FT .... 11.8429
1/4 ET ....... 14.0699
1/4 MPH .... 102.37

Was really hoping for 13's but it just wasn't happening with these tires.
I'm also really disappointed the scale was broken, I REALLY wanted to confirm the weight of the vehicle. I still had fun burning gas and spinning tires :chuckle:
On a side note there was a 2012 Black Edition GTR running 10.50's @141. Clearly didn't know how to launch lol.

Good to see someone else who runs their M, times aren't shabby at all. At what track did you run?

Thanks! I ran at San Antonio Raceway. Hopefully next trip to the track will be with new tires and maybe intake+tune.

Just a side note for anyone reading, I've seen some say they don't see any improvement by manually shifting vs leaving in D. I'm here to tell you, you need to manually shift this car. The big differences comes from stretching out each gear a tad more, and finally crossing the line in 3rd gear vs leaving in D will upshift to 4th losing speed. I was running 14.1@99 in D, by manually shifting I was trapping 102 consistently and only needed more grip for 13's.

Once again in life, I wish I lived in Texas. Track has been closed here for about a month already.

I'm going to have to try that next season to see if I can improve my best mph of 99 as well.

Honestly, as an automotive enthusiast, Texas is where you want to be. Our tracks never close down. You have nice warm weather most of the year, seldomly does it rain (south Texas), no requirement for emissions, 93 Octane always available, E85 available when you want it, and last but far from least, IH35, IH10, Toll Roads, etc. We have American Autobahns in our backyard. Long, straight highways with 85 MPH speed limits.

I'm not originally from Texas, but I'm sure glad I made it.

Stop! lol

My cousin just moved to Austin two weeks ago, has an '06 Evolution cammed/E85. Texted me the other day about how many people tried to race him already and a race shop he found to get his future work done. I seriously have been looking...

On topic: I tried the manual mode finally in the M, interestingly it does allow you to wind the engine all the way to redline without shifting, when I did that in my Altima the computer would intervene and it would change CVT ratios regardless. Next year I hope to hit 13's as well, this might help me do it. Thanks for the tip

Yeah unfortunately the CVT will upshift. Great for putting around, terrible for performance driving.

I live in San Antonio. Im in Austin frequently, know many of the shops local meets, and know personally some of the shop owners and fabricators. Im very olugged into the auto scene in both cities. Shoot me a PM if your cousin needs anything.
