I casually took my 2010 G37x to Atlanta Motor Speedway Friday June 11. I missed the test and tune session cause i got their late so i entered the races. I was put into the STC class (NA V6 or smaller). The track is 1/5 mile i believe and its single elimination, loser goes back to the pits and winner lines up again. I survived ~5 rounds and took First place in the STC class. I was very surprised... :chuckle:

Only one car gave me hell and it was a very suited up Honda Del-son... i only beat it by half a car length for the trophy... :yesnod

This was the competition that night (row farthest from the grass)... but ill take any win... :yesnod

Me on the podium

here is the video of the trophy race... sorry my cousin taped it from behind the starting line :tisk: But you can tell by the brake lights that i hit the line before he did... :yesnod

Be careful at those events...

I watched a nasty accident when one car blew a tire and slammed into the other...

Hey, is your car even broke in yet?! lol

i think what everyone is trying to say is that in the event you crash your car or someone else crashes into you while racing your car at a track, there would be abosolutely NO COVERAGE on your vehicle. :nono: and being stuck with thousands of dollars in damage and stuck into a loan outweighs a nice trophy.

nice win by the way. :yesnod

i know i know... but why have a sports car if you not going to do any sport? waste of $50k in my opinion, go get a kia, not a g37... :tisk:

more of a chance of getting in an accident on the road then in a controlled race environment...

I say live life... its just a car... if something happens ill just get a new one... :yesnod

Oh come on guys....we are always preaching "Take it to the track". Dude took it to the track and you are bashing him. Kinda damned if you do....damned if you don't. Why even have a fast car?

Live by the seat of your pants and enjoy every minute of life...there may be no tomorrow.

OK, I'm through preaching.

Oh, and Kaydro...don't ever say "its just a car" again. That is my most despised statement. ;)

Don't get me wrong I absolutely love my G! But in the end its just a piece of great machinery that can be replaced. But thanks for the support.

Somehow I become very attached to my vehicles...I'm kinda strange.

Taking my Z to the dyno tomorrow. Wish me luck. Hoping for some good numbers. Haven't had it dynoed since I put the S/C on it. I'll try to get a video.

My problem with that car now is, if I made it bite (i.e. slicks) I would probably break a lot of things. Only took it to the track once and tire spin was horrible. Since then, I have changed the rear end (2.73 to 3.42) and added the s/c so it literally will just spin all the way through 1st gear. Fun to play with, but not at all good for consistant bracket racing times. I just find out of the way places and have fun. I forgot exactly what year GM started putting traction control on the F-body...but it wasn't available in '95.

oh well out of the way fun is still good... guess you got to add some stronger parts to your drivetrain so it wont break nothing if your tires hook up... part of the reason i dont want to go FI because its just not as simple as going FI lol...

I love the fact that the G can be at the track and in the same day be vallet parked... :yesnod not many cars have that versatility...

Very nice!

Track racing is extremely safe. My 07 G35 sedan has almost 82k miles on it and many of them were at Speedworlds 1/4 mile and Firebirds road courses.

What were your times? helmet suggests sub 14's
What tires did you run, size, pressure?

they dont time it... its 1/5 mile... i got up around 80mph everytime... i was at stock wheels/tire pressure (225/55@30psi) and my wheels only slightly chirped in 1st gear... which i believe you can hear on the video... AWD is great at lauch!

i lauched between 2000-2300 rpm.
