hey guys, just got back from dynoing my car and thought I would share my results. I'm both happy and a little disapointed but here it is. 139.3hp@5149rpm/96.9mph162ft. lbs.@3738/70.6mphbest 1/4 was 16.6 so yah, i'm happy with the torque but a little dissapointed with the HP. this is great because I can now use this as a base line to find out the real benefits on modifications like headers/exaust/intake/etc.. also, i didn't realize that my car weighed 4200lbs.!!! if only nissan made this car lighter.

According to the Nissan North America website, your car does not weigh 4200 lbs. Unless you have 1000 lbs. in your trunk.

http://www.nissanusa.com/altim....html

CURB WEIGHTS (LBS) 2.5 3180 lbs2.5 S 3193 lbs3.5 SR 3357 lbs HYBRID 3470 lbs

QR25DE – 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinderHorsepower – 175 hp @ 5,600 rpm Torque – 180 lb-ft @ 3,900 rpm

Why didn’t your car rev higher than 5149 rpm? It did not make it to the magical 5252 rpm, where horsepower and torque always come out the same. What is up with that?

and thats why i was suprised. I know what nissan says but i read the gross weight to be 4200lbs on the sticker on the back door piller, it tells the actual weight of that car. I don't have extra weight in the car though but i do have the convieniance package. but 1000lbs over what nissan says??? thats weird

i pulled to 6K/105mph. on the graph hp and tq crossed around 3550rpm. and the numbers were the peak #'s. also different from what nissan says as I have shown earlier.

It's not weird, you are just confused reading the label on the door frame.4200 lbs is the total maximum weight of a fully loaded car.

On my 3.5SE, the door sticker tells me that have a 899lb load capacity, either passengers and/or load.

GVWR: Gross Vehicle Weight Rating The maximum allowable weight of the fully loaded vehicle, including liquids, passengers, cargo, and the tongue weight of any towed vehicle.

GAWR FRT: Front Gross Axle Weight Rating The maximum allowable weight the front axle is designed to carry including the weight of the axle assembly itself. GAWR is established by considering the rating of each of its components (tires, wheels, springs, axle), and rating the axle on its weakest link. The GAWR assumes that the load is equally dispersed on either side.

GAWR RR: Rear Gross Axle Weight Rating The maximum allowable weight the rear axle is designed to carry including the weight of the axle assembly itself. GAWR is established by considering the rating of each of its components (tires, wheels, springs, axle), and rating the axle on its weakest link. The GAWR assumes that the load is equally dispersed on either side.

Whats up wade, haha if your car weighed 4200lbs I know some Toyota Highlanders that weigh less than you.

I took my car to the track recently and mine weighed in at 3184lbs with no spare tire and a quarter tank of gas.. How did they dyno you'r car? It should be making more power but less torque.

not much is going on other then my upcoming Finals at college, I hate Finals

ugh, Toyota Highlander weighing less? better not lol.

Thats why I'm a little confused, how could I loss 35HP and only 18TQ, kinda weird. It was a 4th gear pull, 1:1 on the transmission, but I thought it was 3rd gear that is 1:1?pretty cool though! also, I did this at my college so it was free !!

Yeah the numbers do seem to be a bit off. But it is good to finally see a 2.5 dyno'ed and a baseline one at that.

Peak hp is at 5,600 rpm if im not mistaken so that coule be why the hp numbers are off.

Wade is your coupe completely stock? wheels, tires and all? do you have a copy of the dyno sheet you can post?

175 hp rated and 139 hp dyno results in a 20.5% drivetrain loss.180 tq rated and 162 tq dyno results in an 11% drivtrain loss.

From what i can remember normal loss for a FWD vehicle is supposed to be around 15% give or take and that is not being optimistic. if that is the case then our tq is doing very good but hp not so much. But i do not believe the numbers are completely accurate for hp as it was measured at 500 rpm below peak hp.

yes, I do have a chart and readout on paper, I'd have to get a scanner to put it on here and i have had trouble posting pics(has to be off a internet link right?). once I can do that I will.

The car is completely stock, I've done nothing other then a short throw shifter.

as for peak hp. it had a large spike at 5149 rpm, almost an instant 10hp then dropped straight down and the power curve went down from there at 5300rpm it was down to about 123Hp. I also did 2 pulls and the car was warmed. the dyno sheet stopped after the peak hp as well so I'm unsure what it was at 5600rpm. It's recorded so I'll ask to see it again to see if it went to 5600.

I asked the teacher in charge of the dyno and he said that has happened before and the dyno is accurate.

It's a little weird but at least i now have a base line. anyone have used mods they'd like to sale at a cheap price lol .

the spike is the other intake runner opening up or a faulty dyno

thats interesting. i want to try and find out which it is. the dyno was consistant on the readings though. may not be 100% accurate on the HP but it's more of a baseline reading for me to find out the affects of mods.
