Well today is day 2 of the engine rebuild process. Pistons are out and I discovered that after the JWT ecu went lean I did NOT pop the infamous KA piston rings, instead I split my number 2 and 3 piston at multiple points. They did produce nice little pieces however. The rest of the engine was so perfect, everything looked good, the bore is still good too thank god. Anyways the new rings/bearings/gaskets were getting put on and my ported/polished head/intake manifold gets put on tomorrow. I am getting pretty good at this engine rebuild stuff as I have never done it before. I will hopefully have some pics to show you guys either tomorrow or the next day, but I want to get the car actually running first.

Hopefully it will be done tomorrow so I can start breaking it in and then dyno tune it properly, since I have lost all faith in "plug and play" operations now.

nice work. Are you upgrading the stock pistons?

Pistons are staying stock. I am in college and sponsored by a shop so....it's much cheaper to do it this way. I would rather spend 150 bucks for gaskets/pistons and risk blowing it up again than spend 550 bucks on forged pistons. The potential savings of 400 dollars are too tempting.

LOL....same here. I've rebuilt my engine on 4 seperate occasions and it's getting very easy. Hopefully this will be the last for a long while.

I have yet to blow mine. Then again I have about 2000 on it. But, I do have two spare motors now.

Yea, I've read about several JWT ECUs blowing engines now, and I don't think I personally know enough to tweak it on my own, so I'll probably try to get on a dyno when I get mine. I'll likely get a wideband too...good luck with the new engine!
