well, when i bought my Eclipse 55430, i bought it because it was a pre-out only deck... the preouts were also claimed to be TRIPLE 8 VOLT (yes EIGHT VOLT)! however i had heard that you needed a special balanced rca cable in order to get the full eight volts, so i bought a line driver instead to run to my Tsunami which needs minimum of 6v in order to perform...

well turns out that my deck is actually putting out 8 volts out of each RCA, cause the line driver said that it was maximized even at the lowest gain...

so my Tsunami likes it, but my Concept CC-504a (for components) doesn't like it... i get a midrange humming sound coming from the speakers even with the volume at 0, but the humming doesn't get any louder when i turn up the volume, so i can easily drown it out, but that doesn't solve the problem of feeding it too much voltage...

so.... anyone know if it's possible to tone down the voltage going to my concept amp? (without buying a new deck of course)

Im guessing you have the gains on the concept amp turned all the way down, right? Is your line driver only single channel? If its not you could connect it between your HU and the concept amp and just cut the signal down(all line drivers should allow you to do that). Actually, if your deck is putting out 8 volts, that means you dont even need the line driver on the tsunami right? So just swap the line driver to the concept amp and try lowering the signal(gains on the line driver). Thats all I can think of.

hey thanks for the advice man!

turns out my line driver can't cut the voltage... i have the AudioControl Overdrive and all it does is amplify it, but the AudioControl EQS on the other hand can cut voltage down but i'm not about to spend $600 CDN on one.

so i disconnected the line driver completely, and i am runnin my concept amp at like 5% gain, and the tsunami at around 30%, and it sounds sooo much better!!

the bass was so overpowering before, even though my components can be heard from a block away :pface but now the SQ is amazing, and i also installed the remote bass knob which really helps me fine tune the bass...

this thread is done!
