I recently replaced my altenator and when I reconnected negative terminal to the battery I was getting too much voltage (spark) going to the battery and blew my 100Amp fusible link. Replaced the fusible link and checked the alternator and wiring for any problems and nothing appeared unusual. Tried to hook the battery up agian and same issue. I also moved the black ground wire around on the back of the alternator and same issue as well. Edit: Also forgot to mention I replaced my main connector with a universal copper 2 gauge terminal because my orignal one was corroded. It's attached direcltly to the post but wondering if I need some type of spacer to for this connector?

Any suggestions?

Either your new alternator has a dead short or the end you installed is making contact with the alternator (grounded out).It should have come with the spacer on it.

I'll try to use a spacer and see if that works.
