Hey everybody,

im pondering possible power steering and oil cooling set ups at the moment and trying to figure out the location

id like to run a FC3S oil cooler it looks to be like 23"x7" or so for BOTH

im worried that if i put them behind the FMIC and in front of the radiator there isnt going to be enough flow to the radiator

Image

im running these twin fans as pullers plus the oem s13 ac fan as a pusher.

Image

i planned on moving the AC fan to push air into the oil cooler and leave the power steering cooler alone but that is alot of stuff in front of the radiator (if both those coolers even fit)

id like some input to either confirm or deny my worries about it just being too much

thanks

There'sa guy that I see at my local drift events that has oil coolers mounted under the hood in front of the shock towers, one on each side. He has an opening where the battery tray area and stock air box is that suplies the cooler with air. Obviously you would need to relocate the battery but at least you wouldn't have to worry about too many coolers in-line with each other. He had to mount them flat down on the openings. I might be able to find a picture of his setup on-line somewhere. I'll look right quick.

I ran 2 coolers on mine. Oil on drivers side, and a second water cooler on the pass side. Both mounted like this

Yea Ive always liked the side coolers i think they look amazing

but the dimensions of the cooler don't really allow for something like this

Image

its as wide as my radiator and almost as thick haha, i did a test on the car today and i don't know if its normal but after idling for about 15 minutes with the fans on the temperature refused to rise past half of operating temperature. I'm assuming that's a good thing, so would the cooler be ok stacked in front of the radiator? its the easiest and most convenient place for it...

if its doubtful then ill sell it and get a similar setup to yours OutToWinPAHC.

yeah ill deal with it when i get too it then i guess i still need the AN fittings and the lines and the sandwich plate so im still accumulating what i need.

i did get a p.s. cooler though and here is what it looks like i doubt that this will interfere with the radiator much cause of how i did it. I cook p.s. fluid like no other i have no idea why i drove my sohc just as hard as this one and didn't leak a drop.

cooling fluid is good regardless though

pbm makes a great kit, that what i have! they say to use a 6607 filter, but thats really small.. turns out the jeep K&N filter(HP-1007) works great and fits awesome. i have used 2 so far. i would just get the fittings and get some hi-pressure rubber hoses. i went the more expensive route, and got SS braided lines for 150 from a local shop. i regret it kinda, but does look really nice though. if you do go that route make the lines have reusable fittings and not the ones that are clamped on. i got my oil cooler on ebay for 40 bucks. looks just like outtowinpahc's.
