Too much air out the defrost, too little air out the floor

We have had fairly mild weather until the last month or so and I didn't realize that so little heat would come out of my floor vents. When the knob is set to floor, air comes out of the defrost as well, limiting the amount on the floor. When I get in the car I like to have my feet toasty warm, not the air above. The dealer said it was normal. I just wondered if anyone else had noticed this?

Just scroll down to the bottom third of the main page, and you'll see this discussed in the thread titled "how to get more heat from the footwell". Bottom line is this is a design feature/limitation, not an indication of a problem.
