Hey all!

found this ad that popped up today.
It's a 4 hour drive each way for me, but if the car is legit and runs, i'll buy it on the spot.

Guy advertises it as a "1997" but it doesn't look like a fairlady RHD to me, and the tail lights are obviously north american... probably a '96 ...

So what do you guys think?

I have my heart set on eventually getting a TT. I read somewhere that the late models such as 96 had not as much room for putting turbos, and the emissions laws forced Nissan to put some sort of regulator in it that made it drop 20 HP.
This is all ok AS LONG AS a TT will fit in the car!!!

what do you guys think??

-Mark

Somebody probably forgot a zero, but the longer you wait, the sooner it could be gone if that is the right price. CALL NOW!

Can't hurt to make the offer. Even if its not in great mechanical shape, the body looks good, and you could work on the mechanicals.

Well, if you are into that body kit and interior it may be OK at that price, engine claims and running condition included of course.
There are a LOT of things that could be wrong with it that support that low price however, so be ready to do some testing of it before buying if you get serious and which may be tough given the 4 hour drive you mentioned.

he forgot to mention in ad that door needed to be replaced as well..

still, is it worth investing $1500 in?

So now you know the body is shot so you need to be able to afford a complete exterior makeover, then any engine mechanical that surely will surface, then the suspension which definitely would/should need attention for a long-term car.
If you have $6K to work with and can do most of that work you may be OK, but if not it may be more than you want to deal with because there's a LOT to go over and competent Z32 techs aren't cheap, or common either for that matter.

your probably right on the unknown engine problems Dcaff, but as far as the body being shot, he said in the ad that he has two front quarter panels to replace the old ones, two new seats to replace the broken ones, so AFAIK only front bumper, side skirts and door need to be replaced - rest of the body is apparantly good..

so you think $1500 is a deal provided the engine is sound?

If the engine is sound (no ticking, misfires, bad oil or water leaks) and the suspension is also good then yes, $1,500 would be a good deal IMO but you will have a lot of work to do.

Here is a better one 11458 miles for 4550$, where is the catch.

The catch is reserve not met, so he could have 15k reserve on the car, and didn'. Even bother to fill out anything in the details section..for all I know engine could not work, and shipping would cost in the thousands... There is a reason why no one bid on the car...

Stay clear from this...

Don't know that you have to "stay away" from it. But at a minimum, I'd want to know why the back end of the car was repainted ( the tow hooks in the back have white paint on them).
