Too good to be true?

I was talking to this guy online, and he said he would find me a s13(probably 89-91), swap in a sr20det, custom dual exhaust and drive it to me from KY(or maybe its TN) to WI for $5k. He says he has like 6 sr20dets lying around and is trying to get rid of them. Also says he has a 10s 240. Is this guy totally bull****ting or what? No one else that was chatting seemed to discredit him, I was just wondering if this is realistic or what...

Without a doubt in my mind. Unless this guy is rich uncle pennybags than I doubt this is true. Who has 6 SR20s just lying around? Did he just have the sudden impulse to spend 20 thousand dollars and basically give them away? But hey, if he is willing to drive up there for you to look at it first then what the hell. And if what he says is true, tell him I'll buy an SR to get it off his hands.

yeah, how much does he want for an sr20? and does it come with everything? (e.g., ecu, harness)

Im assuming its an S13 engine too right? Blacktop/redtop? If its just the engine then I wouldnt give him more than $1000 for it. Haha I just dont believe that there is enough good in a human to go thru all this work for you for no proffit. I could find it easier to believe if the car already had the stuff in it anf he wanted to get rid of it. But who would find you a car and then swap and engine into it for you??? Sounds a tad fishy.

The whole deal seems shady. I'd only do it if he'll let you pay him after he's driven up to your house in the car and handed over the pink slip.
