I've been looking to swap my old KA24DE DOHC for a nicer and better engine. I've been looking around for upgrades for an SR20DET and TOMEI seems to have their stuff together. I'm wondering if anybody has ever used their Engine Kits or bought one of their SR20DET engines. The price seems very high at over 10,000 dollars for one of the complete engines.

Also, has anybody seen the Tomei 4throttle and how does that work exactly?

Thanks.

There are two flavors. Derive and Genesis. Derive are complete bolt in engines, the Genesis line is without the manifolds but the work is taken on them a bit further at the head.

so with the right parts, the Genesis would be better than the Derive?

and what else would I need to do the swap besides the parts I already have with a stock KA engine? I can't understand any of the Tomei Website. I just look at all the sexy pictures lol.

The Genesis offers you more choice. It takes the headwork further than the Derive series, but offers no manifolds.

You need to search and lurk more if you're asking a question like that.

Hey all....

The Derive and Genesis motors are incredible. I have the Tomei Catalog in my hands, and can give you a complete overview of the motors if you like. As the other NICO member mentioned, the Derive is a complete motor, with exhaust manifold and turbo. For each the derive and genesis motors there are Phase 1 and Phase 2 upgrades..... this is where the customization begins.... The motors are hand built, based (to a point) on the buyers requests, and include a full book with pictures of all major assembly to the customers motor, leather bound with an owners plaque on the motor.

I have heard rumors that the motors are lifetime warrantied against damage.

I do know that the motor is built when ordered, and the wait time is about 3 to 4 months. the price is around 10,000 to 15,000 based on the options you would want. You would still need the basics like sr20 harness, ECU, Ignitor, transmission, clutch & flywheel, etc. This is basically an upgrade, as the original SR20 motor needs to be traded in as a core. I believe that the core charge is 3500.00

I was under the impression that all Tomei built blocks were race or off road use only and would never be able to pass an SMOG test.

All aftermarket parts have that disclaimer. Why would a smog test even be a consideration for something like these?
