yeah, you heard me. they come with a set of adjustable (?) cam gears too (damn engrish!!) best part is you get to choose the cam specs you want. for the price, i suggest someone buy them... at least out of principle. you wont find them this cheap again.

those have been up on ebay for a little while now. You can also purchase the cams without any gears, and they still have the valvesprings up there as well. It's like a valvetrain christmas

All Procams need solid lifters or modified hydraulic.. Expect an extra US$500-1000 to satisfy that.

Tomei cannot sell you a Procam solution, only part of it.

My 270/9.25 cam solution cost (after a lot of phonecalls):Tomei springs, camwheels, Jun retainers = US$800Kameari Solid Lifters = US$800Tomei ProCam = US$350 2nd handShims = US$150 (approx, haven't got them yet)US$2100 all up, no labour included.

Any of the lash ones would be easy to install and would be a good upgrade. Certainly a good price. The 260/8.8 or 270/8.8 should show an appreciable difference with a bigger turbo. Others here could comment from experience. My opinion is from research while reading up on my cams.

The heavier valvesprings will make sure the valves close at high revs keeping the power curve climbing at higher revs. But while running standard hydraulic lifters, you will have higher revlimit, but not as high as solid lifters will allow.

^^ thats simply not true..

i have a 260* dur, 8.8mm lift ProCam Kit and i got it from TOMEI through AEBS (which was a night mare dealing with), Adj Gears and vlave springs. i dont need solid lifters and/or adj shims and retainers, i have been using them daily for over 2.5 years now.

i have (new) stock lifters etc..

the solid lifters are only neccessary for the 9.25-10.25 lift liks.. as mentioned on TOMEI's site...

I thought Tomei had discontinued making CA parts, is this just old stock being flushed or have they brought it back due to the US/Canadian market for the old engines?

to answer the question i would go with either 256's for low or a 256* intake and 260* ex for nice low-mid and 260* both for nice mid and 270's for high or a 260* 270* for mid-high power ranges...

with the 260's i lost a little below ~3500 but from there on it pulls faster and harder.

high lift requires allof of headwork, infact anything over 8.8mm lift requires headwork to allow the cam lobes to pass freely in the head,

i really hope TOMEI has started back manufacturing parts for the CA.

You are correct, there are lash and solid procams... but your lift statement is incorrect. The solid type cams(8.8+) have reduced base circles, therefore the overall radius to the cam lobe tip on the 10.25 is less than the radius of the lash 8.8. no head work clearance required.

I believe tomei have ceased producing stock for CA's, this doesnt mean you still cant order directly from them.

Thanks. You are of course right.

The standard lift procams have the same base circle as standard, and as such don't need solid lifters.

Looks like Poncams, are just the one type of cams. All the rest are procams.

At least we've got that straight. :-)

Cheers,Chris

These ebay sales smell like a 'time to get rid of old stock' activity to me.

everyone else may have already caught on to this and in that case i feel real dumb. but from what i've gathered from reading around is that procams are just cams where as the poncams are already dialed in for optimum gains for the specific car and according to the cams' lift and degree specifications.

well i didnt realise the base circles were smaller, just that the 260's i have, have like 0.0.25" clearence between the lobes and head, and i remember someone using JUN 272's 11's or something and the lobes wouldnt clear.. (D i think)

anyway, glad this post cleared some things up/.

dont deal with AEBS or any of them for TOMEI products (well that ebay seller is good too)

but:

http://shop.edoperformance.com/

and

http://www.kure-international.com/

are listed on TOMEI website as authorized dealers
