My SR is missing the OE oil filter block adapter. Seeing that its hard as hell to find one, has anyone got reviews for the piece that Tomei makes? Its also a filter relocation kit, BUT how good is this unit for keeping good oil pressure after shut down? Does it leave the motor dry at start up until the oil pump turns out some pressure?

Thanks,Brian

its going to more than likely be just like any other kit. But i was under the impression that your oil is going to return to the pan when the motor is off regardless of whether you have a filter relocation kit or not.

I don't think the system is under constant pressure. If it was, when you took your oil filter off oil would spew.

True. Its doesn't hold much pressure, but (correct me if i''m wrong) most quality filters have a check valve that (1)keeps oil at the input side of the oil pump at shut down and (2)keeps filtered particulates from back flowing back into the motor. I'm worried that w/ a relocation kit, oil will drain out of all the relo lines and cause a delay in oil delivery at start up.

Anyway....I've decided to go OE thanks to exhsturbine. The OE adapter is waaaaay cheaper then a relo kit.

THanks guys!-Brian

^Might want to call them first. The drop down bar said the adapter was OEM for S14/15 SR, not the S13 SR. The S14/15's use a different oil filter, so I assume the blocks are different as well. If you have an S13 SR, call them. All oil filters that I can think of have a check valve nowadays. Some are better than others. Purolator Pureone uses a metal valve with a silicone seal, FRAM (the orange ones) use a cardboard (yes, cardboard) valve, that doesn't work worth a poo. If you mount your relocation kit lower than the oil block assembly (say one the bottom of the strut tower near the frame rail) then oil will remain in the lines bc it can't drain into the pan, but when you change the oil and filter, the excess oil will still drain out (yes, it will be messier than if you mount the relocation high, but oh well). With any relo kit, the pump will have that little bit of extra space to pump oil through and that could reduce pressure slightly, but it shouldn't be a problem bc the volume of the lines isn't that much. If you get a massive filter, you could lose noticeable pressure.

Yea, I was wonderin about the (S14/S15) thing. Funny that the Circuit Sport one states 13/14/15 though so I wasn't too concerned.

^Now that I think about it, it probably still mates to any of the RWD-SR blocks, but you'll just have to use an oil filter for that fits the S14/15.
