Yea, I know.

It was a lucky find actually. The only reason I even stumbled upon it was because I was looking for CA20E's.

Anyway, that made my night last night and I just had to share.

why? its a 6 bolt - ca18 cranks are 8 bolt

i am planning on using mine on a ca20det (stanza ca20 block with pulsar head)that project is on pause tho

if i get a tomei stroker crank, i would have to get their flywheel for a giken, and use my current twin plate (with a Z32 5 speed )

I think i even got mine from the same guy

who else has one of these now? me, Ryan... Dee have one?

anyone use it yet? (except Fraz.... the guy vanished, anyone know where he went?)

BTW, check your mail Ryan

You guys should watch this seller, he has some pretty serious performance stuff. He'll probably have more flywheels in the future. DAMN, he's right here in San Antonio, wonder if he has a shop. I'll send him an email.

Emailed me back....says he works out of his home.

CA20DE(R)T. I'm about 95% sure that it'll bolt right up to a CA20E crank.

Planning on using the CA18DET block w/modified pistons.

Now I need to get a crank....

For the crank, I'm thinking about doing this...

$200 doesn't sound bad at all for a machined crank with brngs...

Yea, $200 is a pretty darn good price in my book for a crank with matching bearings and no core charge. IDK what shipping is, but it can't be too bad.

CJ, does the CA18DET clutch bolt up to this, or is it setup for something different?

That's where all my cranks come from, but I highly recommend getting your block line bored and balanced with the crank because my machinist found obvious flaws in their workmanship.

I'm going to get the JUN flywheel which has the bolt pattern for a standard CA18DET and weighs only 11 pounds. Nice find Ryan . Unfortunately, no stroker kit kit for my car, but I do have something nice to be built that will be sporting a CA20DET .

Would I be better off to try and find an untouched crank/used crank? If there work is that bad, I might be money ahead to find a short block.

Dee if you're after the JUN flywheel I've got one in the CA right now. I won't need it after I stroke it w/the 2L crank (obviously). Lemme know if you're interested, maybe we could work out a trade for something. You know how to get a hold of me.

The less meat off the crank, the better. I'm not rying to steer you clear of their crank kits, but I would warn you that they are already cut. you can recall the issues I went through and couldn't quite put my finger on it. I/we concluded the oil pumps were suspect, but the crank wasn't quite ready for what I was going to do it as well. All is well now.

Let me know the deal and it's on. I'm just not into swapping spit with men (That's gay), only car parts .

Well I found a junkyard locally with a CA20E out of a stanza w/90K on it. They're only asking $350 and it's complete, but it's way more than what I need.

I'll hit you up via email when I've it got the CA pulled.

FYI

i paid $250 for a CA20 shipped from CNS motors on ebay, also from a stanza (supposedly with 75K ish)

and it came cleanish, drained of fluids, and on a half-pallat , ready for me to pick up at conway

just food for thought

Not to thread-jack here... But how complex is it to make a ca20det? Can you just use the stanza ca20e shortblock with the ca18 head/external parts, and then just use an s12 ca20 flywheel? I would assume the pistons need to be swapped out(due to the sohc flycut, vs. the dohc flycut with 4 reliefs)... anyways - enough thread jacking for now, I am interested in making a 2 liter ca though, if anyone with knowledge wants to shoot me an email with some details that would be great! theres one right now

$150 buy it now, 50k ish miles and a 6 month longblock warrenty (which, of course, will be voided by not having a 'professional' install it directly into your car

and its 'JDM YO'

search ca20 on this forum

theres 2 threads that should be in recent (past 20 days at least)

and at least another 2

key names to look for: myself , fraz, pnblight (i think thats his name)

they will have a metric ****-ton of info..

the short story is junkyard version (my project)

CA18DE pulsar head on CA20 blockdrill and tap threads for idler pulley in blockget longer timing beltwiden and rethread head bolt holes

figure out crank pullies (thats teh stage some of us are at now)

thats about it.

there are also ways to do it with a ca18 block, and stroker kits (tomei, norris designs, and dee has some super secret stroker kit)

ca20 blocks are 20mm taller, thats why the longer belt

theres your cliff notes, search for details

LOL, I went onto ebay looking right after I made that post. I'm already watching that item.

The problem is that after shipping, it's not that much less than the one I can get locally. And I could probably talk them down to that price and not have to wait for it and mess with shipping.

well, ask em about shipping anyway, it was $100 shipped to a conway in reno for me to pick up (250 total price, and awesome guys to deal with)

BTW, when you get yours, check out the head design.

4 cylinder, 8 sparkplug (one on each side of the cam)

its kinda cool, more effective at causing a complete burn or some such

i was almost contemplating just leaving it and tossing a megasquirt on it (kill the distributor so it will fit)

but thats not the project i started, and there will always be cheap stanza engines floating around

I emailed them, so we'll see what they say. I seriously doubt they can ship a motor from California to Kansas for less than $150, but we'll see.
