I finally got all 4 blues and boots installed on the 96q,and even with the 16 degree temp. we have had in Baltimore today the improvement in control and handling is awesome!some have thought the blues on the front are too stiff, but I disagree, and with warmer temps and breakin miles,I hope the ride does not become much softer! I was charged 5.5 hours of labor to do all 4 and the shop said the changeover does not affect the alignment,is this accurate? Or does an alignment need to be completed as part of the procedure?By the way, replacing the shocks eliminated a rattling noise I have been experiencing from the front suspension whike traversing bumps and rough pavement!Oh what a feeling!

Alignment should not be effected.

Right on qship!!!!

I'm glad to hear they're riding nice... I'm still on the fence as to whether I want to do the blues in front... After hearing this, I'm leaning towards going for it!

I love the blues in the front as well as the back.... I never thought the fronts were too harsh.... the handling improved more , though, when I got the rears....

....much to my surprise

One more vote for the full-blue treatment.

Should go well with my new upper links and tension rods.

I did the upper links at the same time as the fronts....what a difference.... still have original tensions rods...

btw...make sure they put some sort of lock nut on the top of the shock rod.....

my drivers side nut started backing off...so I had to re-tighten it... and put a lock nut on it....

The blues should come with a lock-nut threaded on each rod. If I remember right they have a nylon locking element that basically gums up the threads as you tighten them down.

No Konis for the Q. Koni is a French company and the Q never showed up on its radar. You might be able to find rear Konis that fit but the fronts will be unlikely. It will be tough finding one that will fit the tapered lower mount.

We have to be carefull with this topic or we will set Dennis off. Shock valving, piston size verses tube diameter, spring rates, compression rates, rebound rates, anti-foaming additives. He will go crazy!

denise has good info.you would use an insert most likely.can some one post a pic of factory struts for the Q so i can see what were working with.hears another idea.would any body be willing to call and send their used oem struts to koni and for the good of all Q owners see if they can match them up.the person i worked with is no longer thjere.to get things like this done takes teamwork, ask mayhem,we both benefit, because were willing to go the extra mile.if it wasnt for criss giving up his used pair of rear struts and sending them to koni for me i would still be riding on oem rear struts.BTW,thanks again chris.i would of had to buy new oem and eat it.could only find one used one for 100.00,dont think so.

daedalus--- maybe they did have a lock nut washer.... I didn't install them...... but had to do my own lock nut retrofit.....

I guess the mechanic missed that step..... anyway...everything is cool now.....
