It is to my understanding that the 90-96 turbo Z's shocks are manufactured by Tokico. I like being able to adjust the damping force without leaving the car’s cockpit. However I would like to install 18” wheels in place of the stock 16”s and use lowering springs to drop it 1” so the ride height stays close to stock. I would like to keep the factory shocks and swap the springs. I am worried about travel. Please help…

There are a couple of guys who have lowered their rides using Eibachs with Tokico Shocks. I'm not sure about the 18's but I do know of 17's working. just make sure of the right offset with the wheels and you'll be ok.

Welcome to NICO!

As long as you run a reasonable sized tire (like a 245-40-18) youll be fine... I lowered my Q 2inches and its on 18s... The Q45 and Z32 suspension are basically identical.

you will shorten the life of the strut, you'll be riding around a bit lower than the shocks happy zone, as for the tire clearance as long as you keep the same width and diameter as your stockers or at least close you will not rub

Just as an interesting note with the front suspension, if your wheels do not rub with the car not lowered, they will NOT rub against the suspension when lowered.. The wheel always stays the same relative to the 3rd link no matter what the vehicle height is, it just rotates around it.... The same goes for the rear for the most part, since the rear suspension has a lot more clearance..

So lets say you go ahead and buy some 18s and they dont rub against the suspension, they wont rub after you lower the car.... You just need to worry about your outer clearance...

If you post the width and offset of the wheels we cna determine what size tire would be best and if theyll work good!

You could always use something like the Tein Coilovers with the EDFC to change the dampening rate.
