A while back I seem to remember there were some comments about early Qs having master brake cylinder failures. Mine went at 80k and I replaced it with what I thought was OEM. Turns out it was not OEM...but it was manufactured by TOKICO. Thats a little confusing. Anyways, you guessed it...my TOKICO replacement went bad after 40K. Any suggestions on other 1 inch bore cylinders? Don't think I want another TOKICO. Thanks...

go OEM on a part like that, get it from Infiniti of Scotsdale mail-order, that will be the cheapest route. Alternators, Starters, master cyclinders always go OEM or expect 1/2 life from aftermarket.

Tokico makes the OEM master cylinder. It's stamped right on the side of the OEM unit. I bought the Tokico branded unit back in '03. How many times have you flushed your brake fluid since replacing it? Usually it's dirty wet brake fluid that kills M/S seals.

Talked to Joe's people, they said Tokico is what they sell. Maybe your right...moisture might have done it. The car doesn't get driven on a regular basis during the winter...and honestly...I just didn't get around to changing the brake fluid. I will this time...

Thanks for the reply

You said your replacement was 40K ago... how many years? I would think you just got a dud if it was within the last five years. That's assuming a full flush and not just a "bench bleed" when it was replaced. It's not idea, but I wouldn't expect failure...

Actually....gulp...it was about 5 years ago. I was so busy changing fuel injectors and hoses, I guess I dropped the ball on the brake fluid. She's a beauty though...black/w oem spoiler, gray leather, custom progressive rims (couldn't help myself)....but kind of a garage queen. I put a new Tokico in today actually (we had a heat wave here...33 Degrees!) and I'm going to have a full flush as soon as the weather warms up a little more. Thanks
