anybody know how much of a drop i can get out of them?

they don't drop your vehicle at all...they are designed for performance handling. Coils or adjustable Coilovers will drop your car.

that's what i want to get - lowering springs but i don't know how much lower i can go with these shocks before it affects their performance. when lowering the strut compresses and i don't want to go too low to blow them out or make them stop working.

how low do you want to go? they shouldn't pose any problem...but you may be better off with the adjustable Tokico Illumina Struts if you drop around 3". The stiffness is adjustable, not the height on the illumina's

i want to drop by 4" - i don't like that stock suv look

i've also heard that i could cut the stock springs...anyone ever done it?

no don't cut your springs you get a bounce ride. lol when you hit a bump your car keep bouncing
