Hey guys,

My wife's Civic needs new shocks. I wanna put the Tokico blues on it.

She's not a racer or anything like that so I'm thinking to put just the Tokicos with the OEM springs.Would that work or do you think I should get the Eibach Prokit to go along with them?

Do it, but get H&R OE Sports, only 1" drop, and (IMO anyhow), H&R > Eibach.

I'm thinking to NOT change the springs and just add the Tokicos.

Do you guys think it'll be ok?

I'm not an expert on springs and shocks, but being married for almost 11 years, I know a thing or two about wives. Do it as OEM as possible. You change something in her car and she doesn't like it, you won't hear the end of it. She'll say stuff like, “It rides so rough over the bumps.” “The ride is not as comfortable as it was.” “What did you do to my car?” My wife was asking about the Bimmer “Why are the tires so lo profile if you can ruin the rims with a pothole?” They just don't get it. If it's your car, do what you want. If it's hers then keep it OEM. Get the Blues and call it a day.

Lou you're right. That's what I've been thinking. The less tinkering the better.

After being around a bunch of them and working on their cars:

The Tokico blues are basically stock replacement shocks. They are just barely stiffer than stock so they would be ok to put on your stock springs.

I had them on my 93 del sol with eibach prokits for about a year.

There is absolutely no way that tokico's will make the ride too harsh.

Eibach's will make the car incredibly harsh, relatively speaking.

Do not lower it, that's my advice. The tokico's will be enough of an improvement w/out risking "ruining" her car.

Thanks guys. That's what I will do. JUST the blues without any lowering springs. Less expensive as well partswise AND laborwise.

If you're doing it yourself, best to head to a local parts store and grab some spring compressors for about $20. Compressing them w/out the compressor is tons of fun.
