Hey guys simple question I guess

I see alot of people putting on the tokico blues but I want to know if those change the ride height of the car. I like having a tall car. I always do the mirror test( pull up next to a benz or lexus and see if the mirrors line up.) I guess it is a status thing. Anyway, what are the real and exact benefits of the tokico blues.

The only thing the will change ride height is if you change the springs. You should like a lower car better. Lower center of gravity = better handling. Eibach makes lowering springs. I didn’t do it because of some front end camber issues that I didn’t want to deal with. Tokico benefits. Well, if you need to change your shocks, they are cheaper than OEM, and they give you a slightly stiffer ride.

The analytical model of a strut does not apply any force at rest. In the real world they do, but the force is miniscule compared to that of a spring or to the weight of the car. A strut is a damper, and the force it applies increases with the speed of a tire's vertical motion. By being stiffer, the Blues simply apply more force for a given velocity.

Lowering a car like the Q creates minimal improvements in handle since the front suspension already has an agressive camber gain curve unlike BMW's Macpearson strut front suspension.

Since the Q can only achieve 0.75-0.82 G [depending on tire brand] because the front tires are so overloaded [only 1521 pounds of max load] vs 1161 static leaves only 360 pounds each of reserve loading for handling or braking.

To me the Q as it is has enough perfomance for me. I dont have this car to be taking corners or anything like that. I have it because it is luxury. I am looking for the type of ride that when I hit a bump (new York) the car doesn't hit hard and the car doesn't fly all over the place.

The Tokico Blues or the stock Infiniti ones will do you fine, then! No unloaded height change will occur.

Did the TokikoBlues and love them. Significant improvement over worn-out OEMs and less costly as a replacement. I have to daily drive on the wonderful (NOT!) roads of urban DC & MD and the shox work very well. When I get to cruise into my home territory - western NY Finger Lakes - the added control on those beautiful winding country roads just gives me the grins. And that's on a 90Q with 160k miles. Just do it. My 2cts: Raising a Q's ride height is not a good idea.

Actually the 90 Q has a very low [23.5-24"] for a 4 door sedan center of gravity thanks to suspension design and 56.3" total height.

61.8" track width on a 113.2 " WB and 3957 pound weight.

24/61.8= 0.388 roll couple factor.

I love the tokiko blues. I got them a couple of years ago right at the 100,000 mile mark. What a huge difference. Plus as mentioned above they’re basically the same as OEM just a little stiffer (Yeaaah) and a lot less expensive (double Yeaaah).Just put them on, you won’t regret it.

Ditto - Get the blues.

SWA (see left column) has a great price on them, call Steve and tell him we sent you.

The Tokiko Blues will definitely keep the car from flying all over the place. The air pressure in your tires, will make the difference in the initial bump.

If you go to 16" or 17' rims, then you will feel the harshness of the bumps.

I can tell the difference in 32 and 38 PSI in my tires. It rides like 2 different cars.

Do the Blues, upper links, bump stops, strut boots, and sway bar bushings.

Your backbone will thank you.

I put in the Tokico blues & Eibach springs along with new 18" wheels with 245/40 tires in front & 255/35 tires in the rear. The handling improved greatly while the ride is by no means too stiff. It still rides well but is much tighter! Just had it aligned, no problems there. I love it!

I had these on my CHristmas list, last year, and the wifey bought them from SWA. She forgot to tell them we were NICO members.

She paid over $300.00 for the set.

Don't forget to thell them about NICO!
