There isn't much adjustment allowed on the Q for alignments; however I know you can get adjustable tension rods and upper links to help out in this area

Toe is adjusted with altering tie rod length, easiest of all q alignment parameters to adjust.upper link shim/replacment affects camber, tension rod affects caster.A good front end specialist should be able to adjust quite easily

What is a Strutmaster kit?

That shop should be avoided.

That bit of advise should be avoided!!!

Opinions, we all have one!! Yet since you do not even know what the kit is, how can you speak on it.

I have a Strutmaster conversion kit and it was recommended after seeing the cost involve in bringing the A system back to life. Yeah the recharging is not costly but if it is to a point where you have to do that chances are the other components need to be replaced too. Control arms, bushings and the like.

The shop that did the work adjusted the system and I have not had a day of issues with it. I have the T-blue shocks that came with the kit...... total cost installed was $1100.

I am satisfied and have had the conversion now for almost 2 years. That is a Strutmaster Kit, same thing as Infiniti sells, for a lot less money. So what is the problem unless you are just a purist? Even then if Infiniti sells it there can be no Purist? They made and designed the Q45a and even they see the need to offer an alternative to the $1400. a shock on the A.

Heres to STRUTMASTER.........And if you dont know, you better ask somebody! !

Nice to keep the A as an A but nicer to see a clean 14 year old Q on the road, instead of parked in a shop or someones yard.

Personally, I think the Strutmaster package is a good low cost solution for someone who has trashed out active system. However, it only replaces the 'actuator/spring' and does nothing for all the other trashed out suspension components probable in a car so neglected.

I doubt the economics of restoring a trashed out Q45 suspension system--front lower control arms, upper links, sway bar links, tension arm bushings, rear subframe, and how many rear suspension links?

Owning an old Q is certainly NOT ABOUT ECONOMICS.

Replacing all the rubber isolated components is supposed to be a progressive work in progress. Part of the $3,000+ per year you budget, after 10 years you get most things replaced and begin to get ready for the next round of things that refail.

Upper links are an every 3 year cycle just as tension rods and shocks are an every 5 year item...........some things like kingpins, rear subframes, and associated components last 10-12 years.

You must just get comfortable with rebuilding the entire vehicle suspension.

Because the parts you don't change create so must slop and noise that they can cause newer replaced parts to fail sooner.

Lexus, MB, BMW are no better and in many ways, worse depending on model and years.

We keep many more Lexus suspension parts in stock or order them more frequently than the Q.

Rear subframes are difficult to find and dealers don't want to let the 1 they might have go. None at any US warehouse and no likelyhood of any new one made.

Actives are different from standard as are T cars.

No, I didn't know what a strutmaster kit is, and after learning, I can see why.

But any shop that doesn't know the front toe-in is adjustable (is there a car available where it is not?) is not up to my standards and should be a big RED FLAG to any semi-knowledgeable owner.

Trashed out!!Just normal driving will kill the active.I was disappointed that Infiniti chose to ignore the problem while it was under extended warranty. I just sold 94QA to my brother & purchased M35 totally loaded. I love my new Infiniti! The Q was fun for the first 50 K but was a rough ride after that. Thanks all for your input.Lynn
