Toe and tension?

Toe links and tension rods are not the same thing right? You need to buy both to complete that part of your suspension. Like ones in front of the rotor and the others like behind?

if anyone could even put this in a yes or no answer that would be great.As in yes they are the same or no they are not the same.

In the first picture, you see the tension rod labeled. Second picture is of the front upright, with tie rod attached.

Tension rods restrict the lower control arms to a specific compression arc, while tie rods connect the steering rack to the uprights (spindles).

to elaborate on what he said..The tension rod helps locate the tire forward and backwards. while the weight of the car is supported by the spring the spring doesn't offer any directional control of the wheel, it simply trys to keep it some distance from the mounting point. Any object has 6 degrees of motion...It can move forward and backwards, side to side, up and down...It can also roll forwards/back wards, roll side to side, or twist(yawn) along its vertical axis.

Simplisticaly stated we are trying to control 5 of these motions so we can keep the wheel pointed a given direction, and only allow it to move up and down to soak up the bumps in the road.

Tension rods control the forward back wards movement of the wheel. with out them the wheel could swing freely twords the front or rear of the car along the arc of the struts mounting point untill it struck the body work of the car.

Toe rods control rotation along the vertical axis. With out them the tire would remain fixed in its position(granted the tire does move some as it rotates about the steering axis), but there would be no steering control, and the tire could spin freely around the steering axis (in the case of the 240's front suspsension this steering axis is set by the upper mounting point of the strut and ball joint of the control arm)
