well i walked outside to find out that someone stole my exhaust :tisk:
I'm guessing they lifted my car, unbolted it from the cat and took off.

I don't have renter's insurance (apartment complex)
my mom didn't feel it was necessary i guess :gotme
i only have liability (even though i was planning on changing it to full last week but never got around to it)
and the office said they are not liable for my car

so someone casually walked into THEIR parking lot that I, a paying resident, parked my car at, and they stole it.
if they don't want to be liable, why don't they put a fence up?
apparently that's not important.

so now I'm out of a Megan catback exhaust that I needed for a swap (and that i got for a good price)
and some ***hole has walked away with a fairly nice used 3" exhaust.

(If any of you live in the Tucson area in AZ and someone you know just recently picked up a used Megan catback, please let me know; it's possible that they are a thief)

Sometimes I just hate people :picard:

Wow, that is one I have not heard of yet - who steals an exhaust? Sorry this had to happen to you, but remember the worst day on Earth is better than the best day in hell. Get out there & live!

i feel your pain, but i dont see how it would be the apartment owner's fault or they are liable for it. i mean if someone stole your exhaust in the parking lot at walmart while you were shopping, would it be thier fault because it is thier parking lot, and your a paying customer?? No..... but i know it sucks, apartment complex parking lots are a heaven for theives...

i get your point but what i meant was that my apartment complex didn't really do a good job securing this property off from thieves the way my dad's did. they had the entire complex fenced off with only 1 entrance that has gates shut at 8pm and the only way to get in is with a code and the rest of the openings are all exit only. the entire parking lot in front of the complex has a main entrance that has no gate so anyone can come in at any time and there are no fenced off areas at all.
a complete stranger can walk up to anyone's door here as well as anyone's car. just happened to be mine.

for not wanting to be held responsible, i'd expect better effort from them to secure the area.

lol good point wingFeather,
but i want to live with my exhaust back on my car!

I work on apartment gates for a living (among other security things I do) and the reason they aren't liable is because you didn't have to rent your parking space. If you did, then something in the lease your mom signed releases them from liability.

I would bet it's someone in the complex who did it.

It almost always is... Keep an eye out for any other ghetto kids with a 240 and keep a bat or something in the car... :squint:

i agree, that is pretty bad, they should atleast have a 24-7 security guard on partol... but i was thinking about this more, that someone scouted your car out, and that person probably has a 240 or a friend with one.....because at night with no jacks, keeping light to a minimum...these guys had to know thier was around the 240s exhaust hangers to get away fast and un-noticed... people are low these days... is pathetic

sorry to hear about ur exhaust..... you can buy my 3" top fuel... im getting tired of it.....lol

that's pretty messed up. why steal a megan exhaust? it's not like it's hard to find that in the market.
you need to put an alarm in your car.

yea.
im going to be getting renters insurance.
as well as an alarm for my car.

there's a night guard that works from 9pm-5am.

well the thing is,
if it was someone here,
as mentioned before it would have to be someone that knows there way around a 240 or at least knows enough about cars to know what the hell it is.
the only "car" people at my apartment are a guy that drives an early 90's corolla that i doubt wouldn't even think it was worth stealing.
and another guy thats my friends brother but he drives a mustang.
i havent talked to my friend yet but i will and ask his brother to look out for it or help me find out if it was someone at these apartments.

the only other solution is that it's someone that i know (or at least they're in the middle of this)

or it's my friends f*** with my bad.

for now im just going to leave it at someones house until i get an alarm and talk to the security guard to see if he'll look out for my car for me.

haha,
that's what i want to do.
except the little sister's phone number part,
i already have a lady lol

even though it seems like you guys think that megan exhaust sucks,
i liked it.
it had a real nice deep tone that stays deep throughout the rpms without getting raspy

My friend has a 2.5 and they are good exhaustt they definately dont get raspy like some exhaust in the higher rpm range. Do you have a cat? It may of started with them trying to steal your catalytic converter then they say the exhaust was probably worth a little extra money.

its not so much that it sucks but that its so cheap, even brand new, that y would anyone even bother... then again this just shows y i had to start keeping the car locked up in the garage.

lol i have a stock header and downpipe and cat and i doubt they'd be after the cat.
someone prolly just saw it and thought they'd be able to make a quick few bucks if they took it.

yea, they're like 300-450 brand new?
idk,
the 150 i payed for it is still a lot to me since i work part time.

im gonna keep it at my dads apartments since his is fenced off.
and i'm gonna have to rock stock exhaust again until i can find another aftermarket.

stock cat or not, if it's functional, it's worth a couple hundred bucks.

Maybe someone in the complex got tired of hearing your car's exhaust and they stole it to be a d!ck and think they were teaching you a lesson. Did you look in the dumpster to see if it was there? People are d!ck and you never know what they'll do.

no but now that you mention that i might as well check.
ehh,
it's possible.
but there's a corolla guy out here (early 90's corolla..)
that revs the s*** out of his car everytime he gets in it :tisk:
so idk if they'd go after mine.

but yea,
i'll check.
