Well... if it is true... the amount of money it would cost to make it happen would make it cost prohibitive. So, if he really did do it... he's got more money than brains. Especially considering there are about a dozen direct swap kits available to fit a SBC 350 in any Jeep. For the cost of the SR alone he could buy a crate motor fully modified to over 500hp. For the cost of custom fitting the SR and R32 transmission... he could go insane with horsepower producing mods!!! And who the hell wants a turbo Jeep anyway?

The REAL Turbo Brick...

My bro drove a '90 Cherokee when he first got his license. It was nicknamed the Turbo Brick, even though it had the stock engine. It appears someone decided to make it real...

edit: Oh, Domini, I would call BS on you too, but the people around here are just insane and rich enough to try that.

why is it that specifically in america a sr cant make 486 hp? theres planty of srs making more than that here in america. i call bs on you thinking you actually know what youre talking about. anything is possible these days, and why would this guy just automatically come on here saying what he saw? you dont make one bit of sense mainevent.

MainEvent has a point, as most SRs don't make that much power, because most people haven't invested enough to do so. However, money is no object for most of the people around here, and thus the fact that he saw what he saw 15min away from my house is entirely plausible.

yeah, for those people who haven't been to ATL and seen the kind of money people have here, anything is entirely possible here. but some pics would help prove this insanity!

yeah bud, it costs ALOT of money to get ANY 4 cyl to 450+ hp...dude, even enjuku's DRAG CAR dosent make all that much power on a stock bottom end, that means that this guy in the "sr'd jeep" has a built SR20DET...so lets say 3k for the engine, 3k for build, 3k for turbo setup...that's already nearly 10k by the time you factor in install costs and engine management! WHO THE HELL IS GONNA SPEND 10k+ on a stupid import 4cyl in a AMC vehicle when they can swap in a modified chevy small block for 3k and make mroe power.

No friggin' way! They swapped an SR into a bimmer? Which one? I noticed they had a green... I think it was a 5 series... there early this week or late last week. They also had that kickin silver E36 3 series there, though it shows up a lot.

Hey now, don't be hatin' on this side of town. I'm in one of those neighborhoods and this house isn't a million dollars. Most houses over here are more in the 500k-700k range, but there are a few multi-million ones. The "cheap" houses fetch a quarter million.

Mainevent, cool it. Why would someone swap a small block chevy into a s14 and build that? Cuz its cool. That's expensive, ang guess what buddy, its been done.

uh, yeah, and how are you gonna tell me to cool it? you donno the first thing about me bro. I just call BS cuz i dont believe that theres 450 some horsepower in an SR20DET that's in a JEEP...period...prove it and i'll take back every word i said. And i know aries did the V8 swap, and i've seen crazier...oh well...and ask aries how much money he had to pit into the V8 to make it that fast...i guarantee it's ALOT less then the SR when it comes ot power vs. money

EDIT:

that and judging by his name, "car" and registration date, i donno if i really think he knows exactly what to look for to identify a 486 hp SR20DET

Main, I know this kid personally. He knows an SR when he sees one. The hp number may be inflated because unless he saw a dyno sheet, he's going on the owner's claims, just like anyone else.

Altiman knows as much about you as he needs to know. You're crying BS fervently. That means you need to cool it a little. Honestly, who cares whether it's real or not? It's interesting in its own right. If it's BS then he's good at inventing plausible, albeit insane, stories.

I'll get in touch with him this week and find out who it is, see it for myself with a digi ready, if at all possible.

im not gonna call BS, because im sure the swap is possible, but im gonna call BS on the tuning part. a 486hp SR isnt seen every day. like Main said, thats some hardcore ****. we're not talking just a FMIC, BOV, downpipe, turbo timer, etc bolt-on stuff most people with SRs get. thats like full on big turbo swap, custom exhaust, intake, fuel management, etc etc. not something you see every day. pics or shins buddy.

Ahh! Okay, well... does Kedron really have that kind of money? Or do you mean further down on 74 when it gets kinda woodsie, near Sandy Creek?
