I live NE of Seattle ~ 30 miles. It snowed early this morning. I got up to go to work (I work tue-sat) thinking it is good time to test TCS. Before I had 4WD TCS in form of locked(lockers) up (front-rear) Cherokee. With that Cherokee I plawed up to 2 feet of snow - rarely had problems. So, I get on the street and it's white no tracks nothing. I live up on the hill, so I get down in 1st gear. Snow about 1-2 on the ground (kinda wet). Get on the main street, and tried to fish tail, not a chance TCS kicked in instantly. Later, I had to go up thehill (windy road). So, I drive ~20 MPH and try to power up, nothiung TCS flashes and nothing, I just feel a slight bump. Then tried to do it on purpose crank steer wheel and power up, that was a weird feeling , car wanted to go into a spin but it straigtned itself with TCS flashing vigorously. I've spun up Jeep before on the snow, that was fun! This thing I couldnt spin that easily!I am impressed with this TCS thingy! One thing I didn't like about TCS is there is no chance in hell to get up hill on a blanket of snow. It tends to cut power thus reducing momentum!I haven't tried climbing w/o TCS, however, with directionall (not a knoby) tires I don't see it possible! I'll give it a try somwhere safe!Cheers!

TCS works great at slow speeds, but nothing can help you in a high speed slide on ice. Be careful. Too manu Q's out there getting crunched.

I disagree Jeff... You dont get snow down there!!

TCS is useless at slow speeds..... Especilaly when trying to get moving or go up a hill.... You gotta take off TCS and ram it home....

I loved TCS because once I was going there was no chance of me spinning out once I was going.. Good I had that on my first Q because I would have wrecked it for sure without.. I remember one time going down an icy snow packed road... with TCS on, there was no chance id ever spin out.. With TCS on, it was just a touch of the throttle and I was sideways...

With that being said, its a nice thing to had, but id just assume not have it... I drove my current Q with a 2nd gear start TCU for 2 years and thats all I need... I think its easier to drive without TCS because you dont have to worry about switching it on and off.. However it is a nice feature...

It great for winter driving but it would be nice to have the option of switching it off permanently during the summer. I could pull the relay and live with the warning light but an interior switch would be nice.
