So while tearing down my engine only to find the knock sensors in poor shape I decided to replace them...only to find that good oem ones are over 100$ each! With a little bit of searching I came across a new oem knocksensor that nissan sells for about 25$ per.
This knock sensor is identical in size in shape but you have to swap pigtails for it to plug in and modify the plug connector a bit.Using injector plugs from a 91-98 ka24de you can plug into these knock sensors no problems, just shave the left hand tang off and the injector plug slips on.
You will also need to ground the other wire off of the injector plug as the new style sensor requires an external ground, you'll get a knock code if you do not do this...I crimped on a ring terminal and put it on top of the knock sensor using the knock sensor thrubolt to secure it.
Use proper splicing techniques here, be sure to solder and shrinkwrap each connection made...dont want failure from a poor connection under the plenum.these knock sensors are from an early z33 and can be had on
http://www.rockauto.com pn 5S2377, this will bring up an airtex part but rest asurred that it is a GOOD part as its manufactured by NTK and is stamped made in japan.
