Hello,

I have an oppurtunity to get a AiResearch to4e turbo with a T4 flange. It is .60 a/r for the compressor , 1.15 a/r for the exhaust. The turbo has some shaft play but not much...im guessing less than a mm. Turbo was only used for about 3 weeks on a boosted honda civic until the civic's engine went out....Man is a big friggin turbo compared the the rb20det turbo...

Since the flange is t4 and my turbo manifold is t3 then i have to get an adapter...

I am getting that turbo along with a 35mm tial external wastegate , apexi turbo timer, and a big tach for like $250 from a friend.

How well would this perform on an rb20det? How fast/slow would it spool up? My goal is about 400WHP, stock internals MAX.

Also how does an external wastegate setup work? Can I use my stock manifold? Any pics on how it works?

Thanks again,

Tony

I'd avoid it..that thing will spool sooooo late and won't even bolt up right if it's a T4.

that's the backside a ported rotary or RB26 wants. Even if you had a good flowing manifold it wouldn't spool till tuesday, heck I bet you could run it without a wastegate and never overboost. You are trying to adapt a restrictive OE T3 manifold to the huge T4, don't. You want an exhuast size in the AR .63 range for the RB20.
