My 240sx 1989 auto hatchback was not passing smog. I went to 240sx.org/faq and found a whole lot of fixes for the questions i had. Maf, iaa and iac service, how to read the codes from the ecu and how to fix what is wrong. In reading some of the questions here about idle and other problems i realized that some of the answers are on that site. I had to replace my MAF(found on ebay for $19.99 plus shipping), replace my 02 sensor(Autozone, $25.05), found a bad wire from the O2 sensor to the harness(installed by previous owner and not passing the proper voltage to the O2 sensor), how to see if the cat converter is working, testing the fpr, changing the fuel filter, testing and cleaning the IAC and finally HOW TO RESET THE IDLE. I just have to reset the idle as it is to high at 1000rpm. I passed smog with flying colors and it took about 7 days. The main thing was reading the ecu code so as not to waste time and money guessing what is bad and what to replace. Hope this helps.

look up stalling in tutorials. thats a pretty old faq.
