In the past there has been topics about the AEM CAI and how it could hyrdolock your engine. Today i got a great oppertunity to show how this is not true, for the first time in atleast a month it PORED here in florida, and my engine was fine after driving around for an hour in deep puddles/horrible weather here are some pix of the engine bone dry afterwards.

I hope this helps some people choose weather or not they want the Intake.

Whoever said that was totally uninformed. You need a decent amount of water in order to kill an engine. Rain drops and puddle splashes won't kill an engine. Now a small lake or what we call a "Texas Puddle" will get you to start praying I've been there

zerothread?id=245233 that is the thread where we were talking about the bypass valve and potential, or lack of to hydrolock.

I have only seen one case of hydrolock in my life. And it was with a stock intake on a BMW, at that.

Of course, the fact that the driver drove into water up to the bottom of his window sills probably was the primary factor.

i have also heard of one case of hydolock myself. and that was because the guy drove into a 2-3 foot dip. >_<

I had a CAI, on my prelude and everytime it rain and their a huge puddle i always watch all the puddle. so your safe to go, and if your ever worry get the bypass, but i heard of more issue with the bypass from my customer then anything good.

One trick i used on my prelude, was that i can turn it into a short ram by swapping out the extention, it only took 15 mins tops. i wonder if it the same for the V.

Oh how quickly I forget things. Thanks for the link. I've almost experienced hydrolock once. I drove through 2-3 feet of water, but quickly realized afterwards that I didn't remove the extension that day so the filter was sitting in the fog lamp hole. I flooded the engine with as much gas a possible to keep the thing chugging along. HP finally returned after about 5 mins of flooring it. I ran nothing but a short ram afterwards

hm, I drive in places that can flood easily with a day's worth of rain. Doesn't the AEM CAI come with a bypass though?

If I'm not mistaken, you normally have to by the bypass separately. The run about $50
