Hey folks, I've heard different opionions on whether or not one should wax wheels, specifically chrome wheels. Some folks swear by wheel-wax, others say REJEX... what do you guys think? On my last set of chrome wheels, I use to use "Mothers chrome wheel polish" and that stuff worked perfectly! Can anyone offer any suggestions on

A. Whether or not its a good idea to use wheel waxand,B. Which product is best if one should use it?

Using wheel wax or even paint wax on painted wheels makes cleaning them a hell of a lot easier. Every spring I would put a coat on mine and I sold them 5 years later looking nearly new.

IMO wheel wax is a good idea. Whatever product you decide to use, test a small spot on the back side of the wheel in case it doesn't turn out the way you expect it to.

100% agree with Darius. I've used Mothers for years on all kinds of polished products, great for chrome wheels.

If you're working with a clear coated wheel, like our stock wheels, I use whatever wax I use on the car. I just keep a separate applicator for the wheels to avoid getting any brake dust etc on the body. Keeping wax/polish on the wheels not only makes them look better, but brake dust comes right off.

I have painted spokes with a polished lip. What do u guys recommend to keep it shiney? I'm using Meguiar's All wheel cleaner just to be safe for now.

I would use whatever wax you already have. If you don't already have a wax you can use Meguire's NXT, which works pretty well. Depending how the chrome is done, you might want to touch it up with mothers every now and then.

If it's straight up raw chrome the mothers would be fine, if it's clearcoated, the wax is all you would need.

Any wax is fine, it's just very tedious work to do. I use the same wax for my car, windows, and wheels.

Boy oh boy am I busy. I work my normal 48 hour weeks, take 2 business classes in between, and I'm in the process of buying an investment property. I just have to do all this now because of the fed interest rate cuts. I'm rushing to go into escrow so I'm stressing because my down money is maturing in a CD at the moment Trying to figure out all options possible.

So, Rob, did you get new wheels? If so, which ones did you get? Wow, I really have been MIA, huh?
